Joey Graziadei Talks Sharing Father’s Coming Out Story On Show
The Bachelorette star Joey Graziadei is opening up about his decision to discuss his father’s coming out story on the show. He told the story to Charity Lawson and is now discussing it more publicly. Keep reading to find out what he had to say about it all.
Joey Graziadei is talking more about his father’s coming out story
Bachelorette fan favorite Joey Graziadei stopped by the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast where he talked more about sharing the story regarding his dad coming out. He shared the story with Charity during their time together on the show. It was something he knew he needed to discuss but wanted to make sure to bring it up at the right moment. He chose a moment and went with it. Family is important and he knows Charity feels that way too so what better way to bond than talking about family?
Joey told her that his parents divorced when he was young after his dad came out as gay. He realized it was a serious and important conversation he needed to have with Charity. Prior to going on the show, he talked to his dad about it to make sure he was okay with Joey telling his story.
Joey said, “It’s something that’s affected me, but it’s really his life. I had that conversation with him, and he was comfortable and trusted me on how I would talk about it and it would be shared in the right light.”
Joey was glad he got to have the conversation in its entirety rather than risking bringing it up on a group date and potentially getting interrupted before he was finished.

Joe and Serena noted how the moment was beautiful and they know fans appreciated his honesty and being open.
Joey concluded by saying, “My dad is one of my favorite people in this world and I talk to him about everything. So when explaining who he is as a person, it’s part of him and it’s something that needs to be talked about more and not so refrained from or worried to talk about. It just felt like the right moment at that time.”
