Ben Seewald Goes Against Values To Take On Shocking Role?
Former Counting On star Ben Seewald seems to be going against his values to take on a shocking new role. The Duggar son-in-law has made his viewpoints very well-known in various social media posts and YouTube videos. But now, he seems to be contradicting himself. What is up to now? Ben Seewald takes on a shocking new role.
On Instagram, Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball revealed to fans that Ben would be officiating the funeral of the late Tommy Lester. As the YouTuber reported, Tommy passed away early in the morning on Sunday, June 25. Tommy was the uncle of Jim Bob Duggar and was the brother of Mary Duggar, who passed away in 2019. Tommy’s cause of death was cardiac arrest. After he was pronounced dead, the police visited Jim Bob’s home to share the sad news.
The obituary also states that Ben is the one officiating the funeral. Since he is a pastor, this makes sense. However, there is another detail that doesn’t quite make all of this add up.
How is the Duggar son-in-law going against his values?
In her post about Ben Seewald officiating the funeral, Katie Joy revealed to fans that Tommy Lester was gay. Tommy’s husband, Lawrence, was at home with him at the time of his death.
Katie Joy said:
“The man that says people should deny their gay feelings and pray away the gay. Giving the last rights to an openly gay man that was estranged from the family for decades.”
Then, she put the blame on Jim Bob, because he supposedly arranged Tommy’s funeral. So, he may have been the one that asked Ben to officiate.

In another Instagram post, the YouTuber offered more insight into Ben’s views on the LGBTQ+ community. She shared screenshots of some of the information listed on Ben’s church’s website. Despite this, he’s responsible for officiating Tommy’s funeral. Fans are certainly interested in seeing how Jessa Seewald’s husband approaches this topic. Others, of course, have many questions about why Ben was selected for this role.
