In a shocking new update regarding the missing, it is being reported that CEO Stockton Rush (who was operating the vessel) is a descendant of two wealthy first-class passengers of the Titanic who passed away when the ship sank back in 1912.

What most believe makes the story more interesting is that an iconic couple from the Titanic movie was based on the passengers the OceanGate SEO is believed to have descended from.

OceanGate CEO Descendant Of First-Class Titanic Passengers?

Wendy Rush (Stockton Rush’s wife) is actually the great-great-granddaughter of Ida and Isador Straus. Ida and Isador were among the wealthiest first-class passengers on the Titanic. Per archived records obtained by the New York Times, Isador Straus was the co-founder of the department store, Macy’s.

Ida and Isador Straus are remembered for the kind gesture they made just after the Titanic hit the iceberg. Per multiple survivors, Ida Straus was offered a spot on one of the lifeboats. She, however, refused to take a spot away from a woman or child onboard. Instead, Ida Staus made the both heartbreaking and heartwarming decision to remain on the ship with her husband Isador who she had been married to for over four decades. Multiple survivors report watching the couple standing with their arms entwined on the deck as the vessel sank.

Ida And Isador Straus Were Romanticized In Titanic

So moved by their tragic love story, James Cameron’s romanticized it in a scene of the fictionalized version of Titanic. As those who have watched the film will recall, there is a heartbreaking scene that features an elderly couple in a bed, holding each other, as the water slowly rises.

Now, those following this story are questioning if Wendy Rush’s husband knew of her connection to the Titanic before or after they got married. Some are questioning if her connection to the Titanic is what drew him to her or if her connection to the Titanic is why he became so consumed by it.

Per the archived records, Isador’s body was discovered several weeks after the Titanic sank. Sadly, his wife’s body was never recovered.

Per her LinkedIn profile, Wendy Rush is the communications director of OceanGate. Likewise, she has reportedly gone on three missions to see the Titanic wreckage.

Tragically, those following the story now fear the worst as the submarine has presumably run out of air. Likewise, as Entertainment Chronicle previously reported, the U.S. Coast Guard also may have found what was left of the submarine in a debris field near the Titanic wreckage.
