Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’: Why Did Thomas Bezucha Exit?
Marvel‘s Secret Invasion series is set to debut on Disney Plus Wednesday, June 21, but one burning question remains: Why did director Thomas Bezucha exit the show?
The series itself has been shrouded in secrecy, leaving questions unanswered and intrigue foremost in the mind of fans.
Turns out, the show’s biggest star may be responsible for the cut-and-run.
Why Did Thomas Bezucha Exit Marvel’s Secret Invasion Early In Production?
Originally two directors, Ali Selim and Thomas Bezucha were hired to helm Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Thomas Bezucha withdrew from the project while the series was still early in production. Ali Selim stayed on as the singular director.
Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the lead role of Nick Fury, revealed that he may have been the cause of Thomas’ departure.
In an interview with Collider, Samuel L. Jackson explains that the director left just a day after meeting the actor. Samuel said in the interview, “I met with him [Selim] and then I met with the other director and the next day the other director [Bezucha] had quit.”
Olivia Coleman, Samuel’s co-star, was also in the interview. She playfully asked if he was why Thomas Bezucha left. The Avengers actor jokingly replied, “I had no idea what I said to him. I asked my assistant, ‘Did I say something that scared him or what?'”
Samuel then mused that it was probably best for just one director to be in charge for consistency’s sake.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion Set To Deliver All-Star Excellence

According to the series’ summary, Marvel’s newest series is about Avengers‘ founder Nick Fury learning of a secret invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Nick Fury joins his allies, and they have to reckon with and stop the Skrull invasion and save humanity.
