‘Aurora Teagarden’ Reboot Prequel Controversial With CCB Fans
Hallmark has recently shared its first preview video for their upcoming Aurora Teagarden reboot prequel movie that stars Skyler Samuels. This is the first time that Sleuthers have seen the red-headed librarian-sleuth played by someone besides Candace Cameron Bure or her daughter, Natasha Bure.
Unsurprisingly, this video has unleashed a lot of comments and has divided Hallmark mystery fans. We have that video, as well as some of the opposing comments by Sleuthers.
Hallmark Releases Preview For Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New
Last year, when Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for Great American Family, Hallmark said that Aurora Teagarden was over. However, they surprised fans when they announced that there would be a reboot prequel series one year later.
The new movie is called Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New. This reboot stars Skyler Samuels as the post-college Aurora. In addition, Evan Roderick plays a young Arthur. Lastly, the only actor from the OG is Marilu Henner. She is back as Aida Teagarden.
In this movie, Aurora has moved back home, and working on her thesis. During the day, she works as a teaching assistant to a true-crime writer turned professor. By night, she works at the local diner. There, she and Arthur hang out and chat a lot.
She and her high school best pal Sally (Kayla Heller) spend a lot of time together. Roe is even her maid of honor in Sally’s upcoming wedding. However, the goom is a no-show at the pre-wedding dinner. When Aurora and Arthur start to look for him, they find a dead body instead.
Is Sally’s fiancé responsible for this death?
Hallmark Releases First Preview Video
On Wednesday, Hallmark released their first preview video for Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New. This is the first time a non-Bure has ever portrayed this fan-favorite sleuth.
There are a lot of great romantic moments between Aurora and Arthur. In the video, the video shows Arthur calling out Ro’s name at the diner. She nearly drops her trays of food. She is attracted to him, and very rattled by his presence.
Later, we see Arthur tell her, “Life is starting to seem nice and predictable and you came back to town.”
The video also shows someone threatening the bride and groom. Lastly, we see Aida make her daughter promise that she would be safe.
What did Sleuthers say about this?
Sleuthers Divided On New Aurora Teagarden
The comments below the official Hallmark Movies & Mysteries YouTube video are divided. Sleuthers are either excited by the casting choice, or they want Candace Cameron Bure back.
One CCB fan wrote, “Won’t be the same without Candice…sorry she made these movies…and would be dumb to have it still called Aurora Teagarden something new.”
Another wrote, “Candace Cameron Bure is synonymous to Aurora Teagarden Mysteries…what is the matter with Hallmark mystery movies?”
However, some comments were very positive. One shared, “I think Skyler and Evan will be great in this.” They went on to talk about their wish for Aurora and Arthur to fall in love, but everyone knows that he winds up with someone else. But, they promised, “Still excited to watch though.”
Sleuthers, what is your opinion? Are you looking forward to this fresh take on Aurora Teagarden, or do you think that it has to be Candace Cameron Bure or no movie at all?

These movies will not be as good as they do not come from any books like the original movies. I am surprised the Marilou Henner is going to continue to play the mother.
But neither did several of the CCB movies. I think they will be better, they will be fresh and fun. The original was stale.
Why not just start a new series, not Aurora Teagarden? I caught a bit of the new Aurora and her personality was too different to cut it
