When Can Carlin Bates Drive Again Amid Health Issues?
When can Carlin Bates Stewart drive again amid her ongoing health issues? For over a year now, she’s been facing mysterious health problems and has been unable to drive as a result. Now, the Bringing Up Bates star has an update about when she’s able to get behind the wheel again. Scroll down for the full update.
Why can’t Carlin Bates drive?
On social media, Carlin has been open about the health issues she’s faced over the past year. Unfortunately, in the spring of 2022, she began having seizure-like episodes. Since then, she has been to many doctor’s appointments and had many tests run to try to get a diagnosis. Unfortunately, it’s all still somewhat mysterious.
She is on medication, which seems to be making a difference and reducing the number of seizures she’s having. However, due to safety concerns, she’s been unable to drive for months. Her husband, Evan Stewart, even quit his job and now works at the Bates Sisters Boutique with his wife and other relatives. This also gives him the flexibility to drive Carlin around.

Now, the couple has an update after another appointment. They also opened up about future pregnancies amid her health issues.
Evan said that the doctor’s appointment was overall “very positive.” He explained that it’s “been a while since she’s had what I would consider like a seizure, passing out, unconsciousness.” They’ve been able to identify some of the potential triggers for the seizures. The main reason she hasn’t been able to drive is due to unconsciousness. Now that it’s been a while since Carlin was last unconscious, it’s possible she can start driving again this summer.
While Carlin Bates and Evan Stewart are excited about the possibility of her driving again, she admitted that it is “nerve racking.” Evan also pointed out that he’s able to drive Carlin most of the time, so there isn’t a great need for her to drive herself. But it would be nice to have that option.
The couple will continue to keep fans updated via Instagram and YouTube, so stay on the lookout. When it is time for Carlin to get behind the wheel again, she will likely let everyone know.
