KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World recently got a delay in Episode 8.
Fans of the new anime KamiKatsu got some disappointing news recently. The show has been airing for a little over a month now. It already has a fairly decent following from anime fans who specifically love isekais. It gets compliments for being something of a deconstruction of many of the typical isekai tropes from throughout the years. The question is, what is the reason for the delay in the release of Season 1, Episode 8?
Episode 8 Delay
Official confirmation of Episode 8’s delay came recently via the show’s website. The post is in Japanese, but a translation cites “various technical issues” as the reason for the premiere’s pushback.
Episode 8 was initially set to premiere tomorrow, May 24th, both in Japan and North America. The new premiere date is May 31, a week from the original premiere. The translation of the post about the delay also says, “We hope to deliver a better work as much as possible to the customers who are looking forward to it.”
In North America, the show can be seen on Crunchyroll, which has exclusive streaming rights in the United States. The first seven episodes are out and available for streaming now.
KamiKatsu: Working For God In A Godless World
KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World isn’t a standard isekai anime. The plot is about a boy from a cult who dies during a ritual serving the cult’s god and then awakens in a world where no gods are worshipped. It flips isekai tropes around by having the protagonist taken out of a fantasy world rather than into one. The main world of the show is more dull and lifeless as a result. Especially in contrast to the world the main character comes from.
The show is also fairly raunchy, with a big storyline right now revolving around a sex cult. The head priest within this cult holds the title “Chief Sl*t”. Yes, somehow that is real.
The manga is written by Aoi Akashiro. It has six volumes out as of writing this. But there are no volumes with official English translations at the moment. It is possible that English publications will come at some point in the future. However, right now there are no announcements about it.
Episode 8 of KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World will be premiering on May 31.
