Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets details are revealed.
The new Duggar docuseries is scheduled to release on Friday, June 2 on Amazon Prime Video. It’s all about the family’s religion, the IBLP, and its dangerous teachings. Fans and critics are familiar with the family and some of their beliefs, but this is a much closer look at their religion. It also offers a look into the Duggars’ lives on TLC and how they had the opportunity to make the IBLP more mainstream.
Of course, due to Josh Duggar’s various scandals over the years, there will be a focus on him, too.
Josh is currently behind bars on child pornography charges. The eldest Duggar son previously molested his sisters as a teenager and was later unfaithful to his wife, Anna Duggar.
Producers share there’s much more to the story than just Josh Duggar.
In Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, there will be details about Josh’s upbringing, his scandals, and more. But the docuseries’ executive producer, Olivia Crist, promised that there’s a lot that viewers don’t know yet.
She spoke exclusively with People Magazine to reveal what’s ahead. She said, “Josh Duggar is really the tip of the iceberg in this group.”
Then, the producer added, “There are so many thousands of families that have been hurt by this and have not had a voice, not for lack of trying, for many, many, many years. I mean, hope, the takeaway is really hearing the survivors, hearing what they’ve been through. And then, I think also for people still in, trapped in a fundamentalist or IBLP group, that hopefully this is a chance for them to say, ‘Hey, it is possible to get out and that they’re not alone.'”
It sounds like the docuseries aims to expose many more of the Duggar family’s secrets, as well as the secrets within the IBLP. Based on Olivia’s statement, it seems as if there are others just like Josh Duggar who will be exposed in this series.
