Hallmark Leaves Sleuthers Unhappy With ‘Hannah Swensen’ Ending
Sleuthers are vocally unhappy with the ending of Hallmark’s latest mystery Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. However, there is a plan and Alison Sweeney recently revealed it to TV Shows Ace in an Exclusive Interview about the cliffhanger ending.
Here is why the fans are upset, and Hallmark’s big-picture plan.
Beware, there are spoilers if you have not seen Carrot Cake Murder.
Sleuthers Unhappy With Hallmark’s Hannah Swensen Ending
On Saturday, an unhappy Sleuther posted on Twitter their displeasure at the Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery ending. This showed Hannah (Ali Sweeney), and Mike (Cameron Mathison) no longer engaged.
So is Hallmark out to destroy all the happy endings now? Is that their new brand?
There was a cornucopia of viewers who shared their sentiments. Many are still angry by the way Mystery 101 was canceled last month.
Maybe it was all too soon for these Sleuthers to do a small online search to learn that another movie A Zest For Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery is coming soon.

Hallmark Has Plans For A Zest For Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery
In the aforementioned interview, Alison Sweeney revealed that they will be making a new Hallmark mystery in the Hannah Swensen series. This is called A Zest For Death. This movie picks up after the split. This includes Delores’ reaction to single Hannah. Also, there will be a mystery.
Yet, will there be a happily ever after?
Joanne Fluke Consulted On Hannah Swensen’s Storyline
One of the reasons that Hannah and Mike split up in Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery is that in the 30-odd Joanne Fluke cozy mysteries, their relationship does have many breakups.
Once Hallmark agreed to develop two movies in this series, Alison Sweeney realized this was the right time to separate this couple per the original source. She called Hannah’s romantic life a “rollercoaster.” However, it also gives Hannah and Mike a chance to reunite.
Alison consulted with the author and Alison revealed they “talked about her vision for Hannah.” She also revealed that “we have to adhere to the complex feelings between Hannah and Mike, and Norman too, and allow it to play out.”
They felt that now was the right time to “include a step backward in their relationship…so that we can enjoy watching them find their way back to each other.”
Sleuthers Are Still Upset Over Mystery 101
There was never an explanation on why Hallmark did not make the eighth Mystery 101. Sleuthers are still angry about how this ended.
Hallmark certainly knows that Sleuthers are not happy, and this decision would not make fans happy. Moreover, their job is to make money. They are not going to cancel their top mystery series without a good reason. The obstacles that prevented this eighth movie were clearly insurmountable.
Yet, Sleuthers were on Hallmark’s mind when they greenlit this two-movie idea that would quickly resolve the cliffhanger. Alison told us that they knew this was the right time to throw in this cliffhanger because they wanted to do what Hallmark does best.
“We can enjoy watching them find their way back to each other.”

Mike and Hannah should be together. The split was upsetting, I watch Hallmark for happiness and to escape from the real world for 2 hours. Hopefully they will reunite.
This sent Middle School… they should either be together or split up and move on to others. She already chose Mike over Norman and he’d be a real twit to go back to her. I am disappointed that his is turning into an unrealistic soap opera. It detracts from the mystery part of the stories. Plus… why is it their isn’t pleasure in seeing two people love each other and stay together… GEEZE
