Could divorce be a solution to their problems?
Kim Zolciak & Kroy Biermann Split: Attempt To Sidestep The IRS?
There is this assumed financial stability when a married couple is in the picture that can sometimes cause problems. This is especially true when it comes to children. For example, it is not uncommon for married couples to consider getting a divorce when their children are starting to prep for college because their parents being married actually hinders financial aid opportunities in some cases.
Is it possible that someone told Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann that getting a divorce would help their financial situation? Is this divorce just for show?
Why Would A Fake Divorce Be So Nasty?
Now, the obvious question that comes up is: Why would there be so much drama if this divorce isn’t real? Wouldn’t Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann be worried about saying something too hurtful and this fake divorce turning into something real?
It goes without saying that getting a fake divorce with the intent of some sort of financial gain could be considered a form of fraud. (This is especially true if they were doing it to sidestep the IRS and their mountains of debt). So, it would stand to reason that if the divorce was fake they would certainly want to go the extra mile to make sure it looks real.
Can Kim Zolciak & Kroy Biermann Sidestep IRS With Divorce?
Celebrity divorce lawyer Charlotte Christian shared her thoughts on Kim and Kroy getting a divorce right on the heels of news that they were drowning in debt with Yahoo Entertainment. According to Charlotte, there is no reason to think getting a divorce would do anything to help their financial issues. In fact, she explained that IRS debt will trump getting a divorce.
“If the tax bill is in both of their names, they will both be liable for the taxes. The IRS trumps divorce decrees or any agreements between the parties. The IRS will come after both of them separately for the tax debt that will be shouldered by both of them.”
The only stipulation would be if the tax bill was not in both of their names. But, considering they have been married for years, it is unlikely they would file taxes separately and have separate tax bills.
