Amazon Prime announces new doc about IBLP families.
In 2021, Amazon revealed that a new docuseries would be coming to Prime Video. However, at the time, they didn’t share too many details. All that was known is that it would be about the Duggars, the Bates (Bringing Up Bates), and the Plaths (Welcome to Plathville). Both the Bates and Duggars are a part of the IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles), while the Plaths are Christian fundamentalists and take the bible very literally.
The docuseries is from the same people behind the Luluarich doc, which was previously released on Amazon Prime Video.
The previously released logline reads:
“On the heels of Josh Duggar’s explosive criminal trial, the untitled project will expose shocking connections between some of reality television’s most famous large families and The Institute in Basic Life Principles, a controversial fundamentalist organization and homeschooling empire. In addition, prominent commentators, writers, and social media voices will explore the broader zeitgeist of reality television, social media, faith, fundamentalism, patriarchy, and power.”
Now, more details are public, getting fans and critics excited about what’s just around the corner.
The Duggar docuseries’ title & release month are announced.
On the Duggars Snark subreddit, one user posted that they had contacted someone at Variety, who had previously written about this doc. The writer revealed that Amazon has now provided an update! The Duggar docuseries is titled Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets. It’s set to release in June 2023.
Hopefully, it won’t be long before a trailer and additional details come out. Of course, everyone is wondering exactly when in June 2023 the docuseries will premiere on Amazon Prime Video as well. There’s certainly a lot of buzz around these families and their involvement in the IBLP. Fans and critics alike will continue keeping an eye out for even more information soon.

Well that depends, if it is focused on bashing the families then I don’t care for it. I prefer uplifting tv rather than sensationalism
