‘Shark Tank’ Star Refuses To Fly First Class, Has Tips For Economy
Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran is a real estate millionaire, but she says she feels pretentious flying first class and refuses to do so. However, she does have a way to make the economy class feel a little more like first-class seating and has shared it with the world.
Here is what Corcoran packs to help make the economy class more bearable on her long trips every year.
Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran has advice for flying economy
Stark Tank star Barbara Corcoran said she flies 30 to 40 times a year for her business, but she refuses to fly first class. In an interview with Bloomberg, Corcoran said that she feels pretentious flying in first class and she has better things she wants to spend her miles on.
“I can’t justify the additional costs,” Corcoran said. “As for the miles, I never use them for an upgrade — I’d rather fly my family all over the country.”
She then went on to describe what she packs to make her trips in economy feel like she is traveling in first class.
Barbara takes plenty of snacks
The snacks and refreshments offered in the economy class are not the best, at least compared to first class. It also takes a lot longer to get your order in and get it back than in first class, where it is offered up almost instantly. To combat this, Barbara brings plenty of snacks and buys a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at the airport to carry onto the flight.
She said she brings a couple of cheeses, some hard salami, and nice artisan crackers that are not soggy. As for the rules on bringing alcohol onto a plane, people can bring 5 liters of unopened alcohol as long as it is under 70 percent alcohol by volume. There is no limit to the amount of wine a person can bring, as it falls well below the 24% mark that requires the 5-liter restriction.
However, the law says you can not drink your own alcohol you brought aboard a plane, so it is unclear how she is able to drink her wine.
Barbara Corcoran also brings accessories. She likes to bring a small tablecloth that she can put out on her tray and she carries a real wine glass in her luggage for her beverage. She also likes to bring “very pretty napkins” with her as well.
It is important to stay entertained
Finally, it is important for Barbara to remain entertained – especially on the longer flights. She says to bring entertainment to keep one occupied and her go-to game for traveling is Scrabble. She brings a portable board game version of this and says it is never hard to find another passenger who wants to play to pass the time.
