Hallmark has finally decided on the eighth Mystery 101 movie. They are not continuing the popular mystery series that stars Kristoffer Polaha, Jill Wagner, and Robin Thomas. This series is penned by John Christian Plummer.

Here is the shocking news and now Hallmark let their Sleuthers learn that they canceled the series.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Reveals They Are Ending Mystery 101

On Sunday, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries aired a Mystery 101 marathon. On the official HMM Facebook page, excited Sleuthers shared their enthusiasm for an eighth movie. That is because nearly two years ago, the seventh mystery, Deadly History ended with a cliffhanger.

One fan shared their hope that an eighth movie would be made soon, as she “can’t imagine Travis and Amy not getting together!!!”

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries responded with the most shocking news ever. They revealed that there is an update on the eighth movie, and it is not the news that Sleuthers wanted to hear. Sadly, they are not going to resolve the cliffhanger.

We loved making Mystery 101 and we’re so glad you enjoyed sleuthing along with us. We want to let you know that our talented sleuths have solved the last mystery and are off the case. In the coming weeks and months there are exciting new mysteries on the way that we know you’ll love.

This statement, which reads like an official press statement, revealed that Travis and Amy are done sleuthing. There will not be an eighth movie. This movie was to conclude the distressing cliffhanger that shows Amy and Travis split up, her fiancé murdered, and Travis investigating.

Mystery 101 Fans Shocked At The News

Fans who did see the Hallmark response to a future Mystery 101 movie expressed shock. But one Sleuther who is not a fan of this series was very critical of this decision. “I don’t even watch Mystery 101, but this was a careless decision.”

Was This The Ideal Way For Hallmark To Make Such An Important Announcement?

One question that many Sleuthers may ask is why did the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Facebook social media employee make this announcement, and not one of the stars of the series?

For example, Danica McKellar announced on Twitter when Matchmaker Mysteries was canceled. Fans could share their thoughts and thanks this way.

Alexa PenaVega announced on Instagram Stories that the Picture Perfect Mysteries were canceled.

Lastly, Kellie Martin was able to share on Twitter when the Haley Dean Mysteries were canceled.

Unfortunately, Mystery 101 fans learned of the cancelation of their beloved series via an HMM social media poster comment on a marathon post. It is unfortunate that these loyal fans did not hear directly from Kristoffer Polaha or another member of the cast.

Sleuthers, are you in shock over the Mystery 101 news? Sound off in the comments.

Update: Kristoffer Polaha also confirmed this news. Get details here.

  1. This was one of my very favorite mysteries. Why are you canceling it? I have watched the old ones so often that I know them by heart.

  2. This just shows that Hallmark does not care about their fans and loyal viewers. It is not worth the effort to start watching when you have no resolution.

It is just thoughtless, disrespectful, and HORRIBLE decision making on their part.

    1. I watch Hallmark all the time, for them not to do a 8th season of mystery 101 is terrible you leave us on a cliff hanger shame shame on you, i need closure so get off your butts and make this movie to let us know why she is engaged and to who? Now i will be watching GAC. GIVE US AN ENDING PLEASE.

    2. I agree, Hallmark has turned into a very disappointing channel. I only watch the older HMM mystery series. Only ones worth watching. I’ll take Murder She Wrote over any crap they show now.

  3. This is sad for all of us fans. I’d like to know what will happen to the script for number 8 which was written a while back. Hopefully one of the cast or crew will check the possibility of getting that script from Crown Media, which we understand owns it, and get a crew together to give us just one more episode with Travis, Amy, Graham, Bud and company for some closure on the lives of these beloved characters.

    1. This just breaks my heart. I had a feeling that this was how it would end. I think we were all invested in these characters and would have loved to see it continue. Hallmark seems to have a problem with their good Mystery Movies, they just get rid of them, this being my family’s absolute favorite. I will miss the chemistry between the three main characters. Robin, Kris and Jill were faunistic together and the supporting cast was too.

  4. I think this is terrible for your fans just wrong. canceling because you have lost your way. I have waited to see what was going to happen. same stuff.

  5. I am getting more and more disappointed with Hallmark. I was a big fan of all the mystery series, but the discontinuance of so many of them is very frustrating. Whoever is making these decisions is definitely on the wrong track, and a u-turn should be found fast or Hallmark will be losing a lot of faithful viewers.

  6. I really enjoyed the show. Polaha and Wagner are great actors and worked well together in this series. Nonetheless, the ending, though something of a cliffhanger, was conclusive. Yes, there are open issues left unresolved, but that’s true in life as well. For once this wasn’t one of Hallmark’s formulaic conclusions. If you want those crappy movies, go to GAC (or gag).
I’m interested to see what other mystery shows HMM offers this year.

  7. I know you have your reasons for canceling 101, but don’t the fans count for something? I disagree with your decision but I understand you have to do what you have to do.

  8. Oh nooooo 🤦. I agree with everyone. I loved this series. Can’t believe we’re being left hanging. 😡

    1. Hallmark I can’t tell you how disappointed I am about this decision. One of your best series with amazing characters and actors to portray them. Poor choice on your part and a shocking lack of respect for longtime supporters of your channel.

      1. Actually, the script has already been written. I am beyond disgusted with Hallmark and feel it show real lack of respect for their viewers. They are more interested in “inclusive content” now and are leaving the family values that made them famous. I really hope the script can be sold to another channel and we will all get the happy ending that we and the hard working actors deserve. Another possibility is for them to change their minds and have just one more episode. Honestly, it would be in their best interest and would boost ratings. As it is right now, I think a lot of people will stop watching Hallmark and move on to something else. I have a lot of things to watch and don’t need to waste my time with series that are left with a cliffhangers. It also looked like an interesting storyline. The 3 actors had such great chemistry…second to none on television. They let a good one get away.

  9. HM&M… you have no respect for your viewers. It’s unbelievable how many great mysteries you’ve dropped and 101 was outstanding. The worst part is that you’re replacing them with mediocre dribble. Listen to your viewers or there will be no coming back from this.

  10. I am also very disappointed but knew it was coming. Jill Wagner signed with GAF so I wasn’t sure she would be able to work on both channels. So what is Hallmark to do but cancel. I was very disappointed she was on other channel with òther Hallmark actors and actresses. Very sad

    1. I got the impression that the actors go between those two networks and that it’s not a big deal, but what do I know?! I’m thinking it would probably put a strain on scheduling for filming, as it would have to be coordinated. I think of shows like Heartland that work around their actors’ other acting responsibilities. Personally, I think Hallmark should have made it work, since the actors were still interested and committed to continuing the series. They have clearly alienated a lot of fans through this decision which I hope they reverse.

  11. I am also very disappointed but knew it was coming. Jill Wagner signed with GAF so I wasn’t sure she would be able to work on both channels. So what is Hallmark to do but cancel. I was very disappointed she was on other channel with òther Hallmark actors and actresses. Very sad!

  12. I agree with all of the other comments we as viewer who have been watching Hallmark for as long as I can remember all the mysteries, westerns and the romantic shows have keep most of us not just entertained but wanting to see more I don’t know who made this decision but it’s a lousy one thanks for nothing

  13. I think it is their ego they didn’t create the best rated show so get rid of it. Hallmark is done for me Gayle

  14. I am very disappointed. That’s a goodbye for me to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. None of the new mysteries are worth my time.

  15. This was not the news I wanted to hear. Then again, this is news that I’m sadly not surprised to hear in days like these. I haven’t been a fan for a very long time as I only began watching Mystery 101 a few months ago, but I grew to love the show and especially the depth and development of each character’s story arc (especially Travis and Amy’s love story and individual arc) something I noticed is sorely lacking in fiction these days. The fact that Hallmark canceled this show is strike 2 for me in a disappointment caused by the network. These days, they often end series’ or seasons unresolved or with the use of shock factor rather than a conclusive and satisfying ending that makes sense. Around a similar time as the last Mystery 101 aired, another show on the network, at least in my and many peoples’ opinions, ended in a shallow note and didn’t resolve a storyline in a satisfying manner, leaving one of the most developed characters in the dark and the other getting everything they wanted without as much high stakes involved. It felt like a soap opera searching for shock factor. It also felt like an indirect prejudice for certain types of characters (passive characters getting instant gratification while active characters, well-rounded, imperfect, relatable, never get a viable resolution after all they’ve been rooted for).As for Mystery 101, it didn’t have to be this way, especially with the 8th episode already written, but unfortunately never getting to see the light of day. This makes me worry about my other favourite Hallmark show, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and the evident and obvious lack of news and intention for its renewal. I worry that it’ll be next on the chopping block. If they can cancel a beloved mystery with a devoted fan base and disregard their wishes for a new instalment (which they have), disregard a deep, heartwarming effective manner of storytelling which fans and former writers alike could see clear as day in favour of a soap opera-like shock factor result in a different show (which they have), I honestly don’t know if they’re listening to their fans any longer, especially with some of their most beloved franchises. While I wish success on their new shows, no matter how talented a cast and crew of writers and all the above are, if said shows don’t end up as successful as the currently beloved ones, the network only has themselves to blame. I truly don’t know what to say, and I don’t want to spread hate or anger, but this is what it looks like to me. When it comes to Hallmark shows I end up liking or loving these days, I honestly feel like I’ll simply try and be grateful for what is already out and try not to expect any more if that’s what I and other fellow fans want. I don’t want to get my hopes up and get disappointed again. It’s not like they’ll deliver based on what dedicated fans say anyway…sad but true these days. Really. 🙁

  16. I’m very disappointed with Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. The movies you’re showing now is lousy, you have lost a fan.

  17. I am losing interest in Hallmark. Not what it once was. Lots of the new stuff is horrible. I pick very carefully the new ones I watch. I mostly watched older ones this last year and was dissapointed in some of the new ones I chose to watch. I don’t know whose running things but they don’t know their audience. Someone is trying to sink the ship. l think more will be abandoning ship.
