‘DWTS’ Iconic Judge Len Goodman Dead At 78
Tragic breaking news for Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) fans this morning as iconic judge Len Goodman has been confirmed dead at the age of 78. As fans of this competition judge legend will recall, he also judged a show called Strictly Come Dancing. This news sent shockwaves through the DWTS fan base, but his sudden and unexpected decision to retire as a judge of the competition in November of last year makes a little more sense to fans now.

DWTS Iconic Judge Len Goodman Dead At 78
Per Variety, Len Goodman’s manager confirmed the iconic judge passed away on April 22nd. Sadly, the British ballroom dancer’s cause of death was related to his diagnosis of bone cancer. His manager confirmed he was in hospice in Kent at the time of his passing. And, he was surrounded by his loved ones as his life came to an end. His agent, Jackie Gill, issued an official statement to the press confirming his death.
It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him.”
As fans of DWTS know, Len Goodman had competitive dancing deep in his veins. He was a judge for the BBC series called Strictly Come Dancing when it first launched in 2004 until the year 2016. And, he was also a judge on the U.S. adaption called Dancing With The Stars which aired on ABC. Len had a seat as a judge when DWTS launched in 2005 and remained a judge until last year (2022).

As fans of DWTS know, Season 31 of the series (which premiered on Disney+ last fall) was his final season as a judge after a 17-year stretch. Unsurprisingly, both fans and fellow judges were devastated to see him go as they knew his judging shoes could never truly be filled by anyone else.
Len Goodman was a competitive dance judge whom everyone respected because of how cut and dry he was with his straightforward feedback. He, however, still managed to be kind to the performers while giving incredible feedback at the end of every performance.
