Signed, Sealed, Delivered star Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe is the first recipient of Hallmark’s Make Her Mark Women’s Director Program. What does this mean for the talented actress and emerging director?

We have all the news, including a project she is working on now!

Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Selected For Hallmark’s Make Her Mark Women’s Directing Program

Hallmark Media has announced that Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe is the inaugural participant in the new Make Her Mark Women’s Director Program. Announced by Ashley Williams late in 2022, this program is to support women directors.

Moreover, they get the valuable experience of shadowing another director. In Lowe’s case, she will be working with actor Jessica Harmon (Rip In Time, Game, Set, Love).

Lowe will be shadowing on the set of the upcoming Hallmark movie Dream Moms starring Tamera Mowry-Housley, Inbar Lavi, and Chelsea Hobbs.

What Is Make Her Mark: Hallmark’s Reciprocal Director Mentor Program?

Back in August, through actor and director Ashley Williams, Hallmark Media announced Make Her Mark: Hallmark’s Reciprocal Director Mentor Program.

The Two Tickets To Paradise star worked for a few years to make this program happen.

Although Williams has not yet directed a Hallmark movie herself, she has created this program to give more women a chance to be mentored and learn on the job.

Could Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Direct A Future SSD Movie?

POstables may ask whether Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe might direct a future episode of Signed, Sealed, Delivered. Hallmark has already shared that they are interested in making more movies. Wouldn’t it be cool if this new Hallmark director makes the next SSD?

However, there is some precedence here. Actor and director Peter Benson starred in the Aurora Teagarden mystery series with Candace Cameron Bure. He portrayed Detective Arthur Smith, Aurora’s (CCB) old boyfriend.

In addition, Benson’s Hallmark directorial debut was in 2020 for Heist & Seek. He both acted in this mystery and directed it.

Therefore, it seems very possible that if there is another SSD, we could potentially see Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe direct it. That would be pretty special.

How Can Female Directors Apply To Join Make Her Mark Program?

A few readers asked how they could join this new Make Her Mark program. We contacted Hallmark Media about this new mentorship program. In addition, we asked how women can apply.

This is the response from Hallmark: “We don’t have a public application process at this time. Our programming and development team is identifying candidates through their network of producers, established directors, and talent.”

In addition, we were advised if anything should change, they will advise us.

POstables, are you excited by this Hallmark news?
