‘GMA’: Robin Roberts Leaves Michael Strahan Sweating Bullets
Robin Roberts left her co-anchor Michael Strahan sweating bullets during a live show. She almost spilled a major secret on the morning show that’s planned for next week. Michael warned her not to share any spoilers with the viewers at home, but she couldn’t help herself. Find out what happened and read on for more details.
Michael Strahan sweats during GMA
On Wednesday’s broadcast of Good Morning America, the show celebrated 10 years since Robin Roberts received her life-saving bone marrow transplant. Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos, and Lara Spencer watched a video about patients who attended a bone marrow registry event in Chicago. It touched on the importance of this medical treatment.
“All week long, we’re going to be spotlighting incredible stories like this all across the US,” Robin Roberts said as she choked back tears. “And on Tuesday, we have a special series finale planned…”
She almost shared a spoiler with the viewers at home. Michael broke a sweat during the segment. Robin admitted that she couldn’t spill the news. Michael watched her carefully as he said, “You… you can’t!”
“Oh my goodness!” Robin Roberts exclaimed. “But the way people are rallying. Our ABC stations and affiliates and what we’re doing nationwide. It’s very special.”
As GMA fans already know, Robin battled cancer twice. In 2007, she opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis. She went through a series of chemotherapy treatments to reduce the disease. In 2012, Robin was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome. Per Cancer.org, this type of cancer causes “low numbers of one or more types of blood cells.”
At the time, Robin Roberts shared that her life expectancy would be one to two years if she didn’t have a successful transplant. These days, she’s counting her blessings and thanking God. She is glad to have a new chance at life. Even her partner Amber Laign was diagnosed with breast cancer, which has caused the couple a lot of stress.
Robin Roberts’ life-saving treatment
Robin Roberts received healthy blood-forming cells from Sally-Ann. The bone marrow transplant was successful. She recalls what happened during that time. The inspirational GMA co-anchor called it a “precious gift.”
“10 years ago…I was waking up in the hospital after receiving a life-saving bone marrow transplant from my loving sister, Sally-Ann,” Robin Roberts tweeted last year. “Now, more people than ever can be helped by that procedure and there are new and innovative ways to do them.”
