When announcing her pregnancy with Rhett, they used a “grand finale” theme. So, fans assumed he would be their last baby. She has also mentioned him being her last in several YouTube videos and Instagram Q&As.
In a YouTube video, Alyssa opened up about whether Rhett was planned. She and John had initially tried to conceive for a couple of months but it didn’t happen. At that point, they decided it wasn’t meant to be. Then, she explained, “There was, you know, just one moment where, after we decided we were done having kids…that it was just one time, like one time, we were like, ‘Oh, it’ll be fine, you’re totally not gonna get pregnant.’ And I got pregnant.”

On Reddit on Sunday, a fan put up a poll asking fans to weigh in on whether Rhett is Alyssa Bates’ last baby. 17 hours after it was posted, 880 fans agreed that Rhett is their final child. However, 1,400 Reddit users think Alyssa will have at least one more kid after Rhett.
Some fans believe that Alyssa is not willing to go on birth control, which may lead to an unplanned sixth pregnancy. Others think Alyssa and John will decide Rhett needs a brother, especially with four older sisters.
Fans will have to wait and see what happens. Rhett is due to arrive in April, so it will be a little while before John and Alyssa would consider a sixth child. So far, their kids have been a year or two apart, so fans may need to revisit this topic in the future.
