‘Atlanta’ Star Donald Glover Teases New Amazon Prime Series

Donald Glover is one of the most prolific names working in the music and film industry today. From his hit comedy show Atlanta to his various worldwide hit songs under his Childish Gambino moniker, he’s one to watch. You would be hard-pressed to find a big name with their hands in more projects right now than Glover. Following the recent series wrap on Atlanta, we’re already getting the next project with Donald’s name on it. The name is Swarm and it’s coming to Amazon Prime Video very soon. Also, we just got the first teaser for the show, and it’s more than a little unnerving.
Swarm
The show has both Donald Glover and Janine Nabers on the credits as creators. Nabers has previously written for popular shows like UnREAL, Watchmen, and Atlanta with Glover. The show is being called everything from a “comedy/drama” to a “thriller.” So, it likely follows Glover’s unique style of writing humorous content that is simultaneously dark and dramatic.
The official synopsis comes under the teaser trailer for the show, which recently hit social media. “Swarm follows Dre (Dominique Fishback), a young woman whose obsession with a pop star takes a dark turn,” says the official Amazon description.
The teaser is full of shocking and provocative cinematography that shows off the disturbed character played by Dominique Fishback. Fishback has received multiple awards for her performance in Judas and the Black Messiah. She’s also gotten a lot of acclaim for her previous appearances in things like The Deuce and The Hate U Give. It’s clear that there’s no shortage of talent in Swarm. Plus, the teaser just makes the show seem that much more exciting. Other names confirmed for the show are Chloe Bailey (of music group Chloe x Halle fame) and Damson Idris (Snowfall).
The Hype Of Donald Glover
Donald Glover has been a machine of constant output for nearly a decade now. Atlanta just ended in late 20. However, we’re already getting this new show, along with the Mr. and Mrs. Smith show that Glover will be both writing and starring in. On top of this, he’s also promising new music under his Childish Gambino moniker soon after several years of nothing new under that name. All of this is coming amidst rumors that Donald will also be around for the long-awaited Community movie that is set to film this summer. As long as the acclaim for each of his new projects continues, there will never be a reason to not be excited for something new with Glover’s name on it.
Swarm is arriving on Amazon Prime Video on March 17th.
