The trailer for Season 3 of The Mandalorian hit the internet recently and made the Star Wars fandom collectively cheer. It’s been 2 years since Season 2, and we’ve been waiting patiently for the Season 3 announcement. The March 1st release date is now here, and people are observing the trailer closely for clues. There are definitely multiple things worth talking about from the less-than-2-minute video. Let’s see what we’ll be dealing with in Season 3 of The Mandalorian.
The Return Of Grogu & His New Skills
Naturally, it wouldn’t be The Mandalorian without the character that truly made the show a sensation, Grogu. He’s back with Din Djarin after their time apart in The Book Of Boba Fett. And it appears as though he’s harnessed his skills a bit since Season 2.
One of the highlights of the trailer is near the end when we see Grogu using The Force. He uses it fairly masterfully to take down a large creature. This is in fairly large contrast to his spotty uses of The Force in past seasons. Grogu maybe even stronger than Din himself now.
Order 66
Very briefly in the trailer we also catch a glance at one of the heaviest moments in Star Wars canon. Order 66, the plan to execute all of the Jedi from Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith. We know from The Book Of Boba Fett that Grogu was around during this dark event. It seems as though Season 3 of The Mandalorian will shed more light on the whole situation, though. Will Din be involved as well somehow? That’s yet to be determined.
Finally, Mandalore
Another major event we see the aftermath of in the Season 3 trailer is the ruins of Mandalore. Din will be going home to Mandalore for the first time in the show’s history this season. It’s actually going to be the first time we’ve ever seen Mandalore in a live-action Star Wars project.
Many have complained that the franchise has stagnated in its locations with recent entries. They do have the tendency to revisit the same planets we’ve already seen in past films and shows. Watching these characters explore Mandalore after its great tragedy will be a welcome change of pace.
We see many other Mandalorians in the trailer besides just Din Djarin, as well. Din actually became Mandalore’s rightful ruler after obtaining the Darksaber from Moff Gideon in combat last season. So will he be leading a Mandalorian army this season? We’ll have to wait until March to truly find out. Until then, we can only speculate based on the few details we have.
The Mandalorian returns to Disney+ with Season 3 on March 1st.
