Today show weathercaster Al Roker was recently pictured in a pensive mood ahead of his return to the NBC show. His co-host Savannah Guthrie recently announced the return of the fan-favorite weatherman. Al Roker Walks In Rain Before Resuming Hosting Duties
Al Roker was absent from Today due to his health complications that started in November 2022. Although he returned for Thanksgiving, he was immediately rushed back the next day due to added complications. As per The Sun, the 68-year-old suffered a blood clot in his legs that went to his lungs. Fortunately, he is now recovering at home and is now ready to return to the Today show.

Before his return, the meteorologist was seen walking in the pouring rain as he navigated through the Upper East Side of New York City. He was accompanied by his physical therapist who was soaked in the downpour alongside the weathercaster. Al Roker wore a green John Deere hat, a pair of comfortable walking shoes, and a USA track jacket.
Al Roker Looks Determined For A Fresh Start
Although the host is still recovering and isn’t in the best of health, he still donned a serious and determined look as he prepares to resume his hosting duties on the NBC show. Also, missing from his face in the picture was his signature smile.

Al Roker has been missing from the Today show since his hospitalization and the journalism legend recently spoke about his ongoing recovery. He made a virtual appearance on the show detailing his journey. He said, “You lose a certain amount of muscle mass for every week you’re in the hospital and I was in the hospital for four weeks. So, there is a certain amount of weakness. I’m doing physical therapy every day, and occupational therapy. I’ve got to get my strength back.”
Al Roker Pushes Back Plans For Knee Surgery
The meteorologist had plans to have his knee replaced in January 2023. However, given the fact that he is still recovering, he has to push back the surgery now.

Detailing how fortunate he is, Al Roker explained, “But I feel good. I feel strong. Every day is a little better than the last, and I made dinner last night. I just feel like there’s gonna be a little bit of a slog. But there are people who have to deal with a lot more with a lot fewer resources. I’m very fortunate and very blessed to have the resources.”
