LIVE! co-host shares his ABC New Year’s Eve routine

On Thursday, December 29, Ryan Seacrest made an appearance on Good Morning America. He shared his routine while hosting the live New Year’s Eve program. The 48-year-old says that he gets “tired and hungry,” so he established a routine. Instead of drinking shots of tequila, Ryan sips tea and water in between breaks.

“I get hungry,” Ryan Seacrest admitted before sharing, “We’re running up and down the blocks here in Time Square, stage to stage, it’s tea, water, and a really late dinner. That’s the routine.”

The radio host used to “eat a big meal beforehand.” He would prepare by eating a barbeque before the live program. Then, Ryan realized that he would “get a little tired and too full and thirsty.” He saves the large meal for when the festivities are over. More specifically, at “one-thirty in the morning.”

The LIVE! host admits that it gets “hectic” backstage at the show. The viewers at home don’t get to see the chaos that takes place. Musicians and performers scramble to take their places on one of the sound stages. Ryan also has to scramble to get his spot to see the ball drop at the stroke of midnight.

“The million people seem to converge right in the middle, so we’ve had to fight our way through the crowds with the crew to get there in time because if you miss the drop, it’s kind of a big deal,” Ryan Seacrest shared. “It’s the one second you need to show up for.”

Ryan Seacrest’s feud with Andy Cohen

This new interview comes after he poked fun at Andy Cohen’s drinking. Earlier this week, Ryan Seacrest spoke with Entertainment Weekly about CNN’s decision to cut back on on-air drinking. The television personality agrees with the network’s decision.

Ryan feels that “it’s probably a good idea” to cut back on drinking. He also threw shade at CNN, asking: “There’s some pretty respectable people or at least one, right?” He joked that there’s “a serious journalist and then a friend of mine” who like to drink a little too much during their broadcast.

Andy admitted that he’s not planning to drink this year. This comes after he doubled down on his decision to drink booze on the air. What are your thoughts on Ryan Seacrest sticking to water and tea during ABC’s NYE special? Do you think it’s a wise idea? Sound off below in the comment section.
