Ryan Seacrest told Andy Cohen to cool it with the drinking this New Year’s Eve. The two don’t appear to be on friendly terms. Last year, Andy made a snide comment about Ryan and his NYE special. The Watch What Happens Live host had a little too much to drink when he took shots at the American Idol judge.

Ryan Seacrest shared his thoughts on the rival New Year’s Eve special. CNN plans to cut back on its drinking with its journalists this year. However, the rules don’t pertain to Andy Cohen and his fellow co-host Anderson Cooper. Ryan shared his thoughts on the new rule.

The reality star spoke to Entertainment Weekly about CNN’s decision. Ryan isn’t the type of man who gets drunk on New Year’s Eve. Instead, he dresses up in his tuxedo and puts on a professional show. He’s always done it to honor the late Dick Clark and supports the network’s move.

“I don’t advocate drinking when one is on the air,” Ryan Seacrest told EW. “I don’t know how that started as a tradition but it’s probably a good idea [to scale back].”

Ryan understands that most viewers will find the competing NYE special boring without the on-air drinking. He thinks those people wish that the CNN talent “would drink more.” Ryan plans to celebrate 2023 with other ABC stars on Saturday night. He shocked fans when he got shady about the CNN show.

“There’s some pretty respectable people or at least one, right?” Ryan Seacrest said. “I think there’s a serious journalist and then a friend of mine who has a lot of fun, but it’s probably a good idea.”

The television personality feels that CNN made the decision due to last year’s program. At the time, Andy called out Ryan Seacrest during the live show. He also shared his true feelings on the outgoing governor Bill DeBlasio. The Bravo exec was accused of being under the influence of drugs.

Following last year’s program, Andy admitted that he was “overserved.” The hosts are provided with alcohol during the live show. Throughout the night, Andy and Anderson took shots. Before the show ended, Andy took shots at Ryan Seacrest.

“If you look behind me, you’ll see Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers performing,” Andy shared. “I’m sorry but if you’re watching ABC, you’re watching nothing.”

Andy Cohen has New Year’s Eve regrets

In his interview, Ryan acknowledges what Andy said about his special. He feels that wouldn’t have happened “if they weren’t drinking.” Andy Cohen shared on his radio show that he feels bad for what he said about Ryan. It’s his only New Year’s Eve regret.

Regardless, Andy claims he’s a huge fan of Ryan Seacrest and called him “a great guy.” However, he will continue to drink on this year’s broadcast. He won’t be stopped. Andy thinks people enjoy watching him and Anderson get drunk.
