Joanna Gaines Hospitalization and Surgery Update
On Wednesday, Joanna Gaines posted several photos on her Instagram profile. The first photo featured herself in a hospital bed with sunglasses on as she held up a peace sign for the camera. Her hair was a bit messy and fans agreed she looked a bit tired. According to her Instagram post, she did have surgery a few weeks ago. She, however, was at home resting. So, she would be able to spend Christmas with her beautiful children. In her Instagram post, Joanna explained that this surgery wasn’t really new to her. Turns out, she had it once before.
She started her post by explaining what happened to her back: “I hurt my back in high school from cheerleading- basically a basket toss turned back injury and I’ve been dealing with it ever since.”
I had my first microdisectomy in 2001 and had to cancel my second date with Chip Carter Gaines and then had the same procedure on another disc two weeks ago. I’ve always joked that my back likes to act up at the most inconvenient times and I was a bit stressed bc of the timing of it all with the holiday season.”
She Is Grateful For Her Situation
Now, the HGTV star recognizes a lot of people would be upset to be in her situation with it being so close to Christmas. She, however, is not one of those people. In fact, she is grateful that she’s been forced to slow don and get some rest during what is normally the “busiest time of the year.”

For whatever reason, Joanna opted to turn the comments off on her Instagram post regarding her hospitalization and surgery.
