Sad news for fans of the 1980s sitcom Cheers, as Kirstie Alley has been confirmed dead at the age of 71. News of her passing broke less than an hour ago via her Instagram profile. The official statement confirming her passing was attached to a beautiful photo of her. It was signed by her children Lillie Price and William True.

Per the statement on her Instagram profile, Kirstie Alley’s children confirmed her cause of death was related to her brief battle with cancer.
The statement read: “We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.”
Sadly, her children confirmed she had only recently been diagnosed with cancer when she passed away.

Within the statement, her children reassured her fans that she was surrounded by her loved ones at the end of her life The statement continued to read: “leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”
Her children proceeded to thank the “incredible” health care team at Moffitt Cancer Center who did everything they could for their mother at the end of her life.
Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.”
Her children concluded the message by thanking all of Kirstie Alley’s fans who had loved and supported her during her career. Finally, they asked for some privacy so the star’s loved ones could mourn her passing.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Cheers actress had amassed a pretty substantial estate prior to her passing. The outlet reports Kirstie Alley is leaving behind of a net worth of approximately $40M at the time of her death. Initially, the actress moved to Los Angeles with the intention of becoming an interior designer.
