Brad William Henke, a former NFL player who later pursued a career in acting, has been confirmed dead at the age of 56. The former football pro is perhaps best known for his role in Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black as one of the prison guards. But, he also had several smaller roles in shows such as ManhuntLostLaw & Order: SVU, Justified, Shameless, Bones, and Criminal Minds.

Brad William Henke was confirmed dead by TMZThe actor and former football player passed away at the age of 56. Sources connected to the late actor have revealed that he passed away in his sleep. At this time, his exact cause of death is unknown. (It has not been made public). 

As far as his acting career is concerned, he created a name for himself as one of the prison guards in Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. His most memorable scene in the show involved the death of Poussey Washington. Poussey Washington was one of the main cast members of the show and considered the scene to be one of the most iconic and emotional scenes in the series.

In addition to his minor TV roles mentioned previously, the actor also snagged roles in several movies including Pacific Rim, World Trade Center, and Split. 

When Did He Switch From Football To Acting?

As those who followed his football career know, he retired from the NFL back in 1994. Sadly, ankle injuries forced him to retire. Brade played football at the University of Arizona. He was later drafted by the New York Giants in 1989. During his NFL career, he played for the Denver Broncos as well. He even set foot on the field during Super Bowl XXIV.

He first kicked off his acting career with commercials. Then, he upgraded to guest roles in various shows such as ERNash Bridges, and Chicago Hope. In total, the actor had over 100 credits attached to his name including some notable titles such as Crossing Jordan and Dexter.
