Will Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Be Renewed For Season 2?
Netflix’s latest The Addams Family spinoff Wednesday recently debuted on the streamer. With a creepy Tim Burton-style premise, the series has quickly become one of the top shows on Netflix this week. Although it is too early to tell, will the series be renewed for another season? Does the series have enough of what is required to receive a quick renewal? Keep reading to find out the details!
Wednesday Season 2 Will Explore Jenna’s Dark Persona
With a total of eight episodes, Wednesday premiered on November 23, 2022. The series dives deep into the complex nature and story of the Addams family’s daughter, Wednesday. As of now, the co-showrunners Miles Millar and Al Gough haven’t yet received a confirmation for Season 2. However, they already have a rough idea of what Season 2 will be about. Apart from focusing on Jenna’s dark personality, the show will also work on exploring her relationship with the students of the Nevermore Academy.

The sophomore season will also potentially explore ways to incorporate the rest of the family into the story with more screen time. In an interview, Gough said, “The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of gray. I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors. It’s never going to be smooth sailing. And it’s really her learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship.”
Netflix’s Wednesday Focuses On The Titular Character
The one thing that made this Netflix series different from all other Addams Family adaptations is the fact that it focuses specifically on Wednesday.

As per ComicBook, this introduced several unexpected opportunities and flexibilities in the storytelling pattern. However, it did deny fans a chance to see her relationship with the rest of the family.
Miles Millar Explores Wednesday’s Life Outside Family
In the debut season, fans see Zeta-Jones cast as Wednesday’s mother Morticia. Her father Gomez is played by Luis Guzman while Isaac Ordonez portrays the role of her brother Pugsley.
Talking about the character casting in the show, Millar said, “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

Although the second season will explore more of Wednesday’s family dynamics, it would still focus mostly on Wednesday and her unique life. Moreover, will she get a grasp on her emerging psychic abilities? This is something the second season will explore if it gets renewed.
