Fired from Good Morning America

On Wednesday’s broadcast of The View, Joy Behar stole the spotlight. Actor Kumail Nanjiani made a guest appearance. He joined the table of panelists who interviewed him about his project. Kumail stars in the new Hulu series, Welcome to Chippendales.

The show is based on the biography titled Deadly Dance: The Chippendales Murders by K. Scot Macdonald, which was also turned into a mini docuseries on A&E. Joy Behar was excited to talk about the Chippendales since it was a subject she was familiar with. Next, Joy shocked Kumail with her wild story.

She admitted that she used to work for GMA as a receptionist. She joked that she was terrible at her job. They even took away one of the perks of the position, which included frequent trips to see the Chippendales perform.

“First of all, I’d like to say that when I was fired from Good Morning America, years ago – I was the worst receptionist they’ve ever had,” Joy Behar explained. “This is a true story. So, I was fired and they took my Chippendales as my goodbye present.”

Kumail looked at her in disbelief. Joy’s co-host Sara Haines confirmed it was a “true story” and Sunny Hostin says “Chippendales is a fun place.” Joy admitted that she would “put the money” in the men’s G-string thongs. Sadly, her old job took that regular perk away from her.

She joked she got to know the male strippers. Kumail didn’t know what to say next. He admits that was a “good and bad day” for her since she “gained so much more.” Joy agreed while the studio audience clapped and they discussed his role on the show.

The View also fired Joy Behar

The television personality has a bad streak with talk shows. In 2013, The View fired Joy Behar. In July, she admitted that it was a good thing. The longtime host spoke to Time Magazine about her temporary resignation from the panel.

“I was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why,” Joy Behar bluntly told Time Magazine.

She didn’t share more information about her firing. She first joined the ABC series in 1997. Joy left the talk show in August 2013, but returned as a full-time panelist in 2015. She went on to host her own talk shows, including The Joy Behar Show and Joy Behar: Say Anything!
