‘DWTS’ Execs Reportedly Eyeballing Shirley Ballas To Replace Len
Strictly Come Dancing fans are very familiar with judge Shirley Ballas. Many DWTS fans likely know her as reigning champion Mark Ballas’ mother. Either way, she’s a powerhouse in the world of ballroom dance and highly respected by many. And rumor has it that the DWTS executive team is eyeballing Shirley to fill in for Len Goodman, who retired at the end of Season 31.

Shirley Ballas has a lot to bring to the table
Shirley Ballas is currently 62 and is a very busy woman. However, Dancing With The Stars will definitely need someone with her wisdom and experience to fill Len Goodman’s shoes.
“Her experience is unrivaled and she has made no secret of the fact she’d love to spend more time with her son Mark, who is based in the US with his wife,” one source reportedly told The Sun. “She could hold both her Strictly job and a new role on Dancing With The Stars – as Len did for years.”
Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman both traveled between the UK and Los Angeles for several years so they could film both shows. Len eventually stopped doing it due to his old age and health issues. Bruno also officially quit Strictly within the last few years to focus on Dancing With The Stars. He admitted the constant air travel was pretty grueling.
So it is entirely possible that Shirley could do both shows. But whether or not she would want to remains to be determined.

Cheryl Burke also wants to throw her hat into the ring
Cheryl Burke has made it no secret that she would love to have Len Goodman’s spot. She retired from her position as a pro dancer this year after 26 dedicated seasons. However, she hasn’t soured on DWTS. She admitted she would return in a heartbeat if she could be a judge.
“They are very well aware that I want that seat. It’s not that I just want it, I just know that I can contribute because I am an expert in ballroom dancing. I can say that with confidence,” the former pro told Variety. “I can also say that my teaching methods haven’t been known to being sugar coated. … Len is really technical and really tells you how it is. That is my style. It would be nice to see two women on the panel!”
Most would agree that having another female judge would bring more balance to the show. But at this point, it seems like Cheryl Burke may have some serious competition for the empty judge’s seat.
Dancing With The Stars Season 31 has come to a close, but there will be more fun and excitement next fall. Stay tuned for the latest on DWTS.
