‘The View’ Sunny Hostin Rejected As ‘Jeopardy!’ Co-Host, Why?
The View personality Sunny Hostin revealed that she has been rejected as a Jeopardy! co-host. She spilled all of the details about why it didn’t end up working out. What happened that led to her not becoming a co-host of the game show? Keep reading to find out why.
Back in 2016, Sunny competed on Celebrity Jeopardy! in Power Players Week. Because of her longtime love and connection to the competition series, she wanted to take a shot at one of the guest-hosting spots. Many familiar faces have had the opportunity to lead an episode of the game show.
The View: Sunny Hostin explains why she’s not hosting Jeopardy!
During an appearance on the Just Jenny podcast hosted by Jenny Hutt, The View co-host revealed what happened when she put in a bid to guest-host on Jeopardy! Sunny explained that she loves the game show and said, “I can say this, I wanted to try out to become one of the hosts of Jeopardy! I thought it was really cool.”
Then, The View co-host continued, “I’ve competed on Jeopardy!… I’ve lost on Jeopardy!… it’s like taking a bullet if you think about it.”
Sunny said, “I wanted to try out for it, and I knew that they were trying out other people, like Robin Roberts from ABC. I knew Sara Haines, who’s a co-host, has her own game show on ABC.”
However, she said that she ended up being rejected because she’s “too controversial.” So, even though she wants to, she won’t be guest-hosting the game show.
Fans react to her being rejected.
On Twitter, a few fans shared their thoughts about The View co-host not getting a chance to guest-host the game show. Some don’t understand how Sunny is any more controversial than others who have guest-hosted Jeopardy! in the past. One Twitter user noted that Dr. Oz was previously chosen to fill in as host, as were other more controversial celebrities.
In a recent podcast with @sunny, she reveals that she was in contact a try-out to host #Jeopardy (since other ABC news personalities like Robin Roberts got guest runs) but she was rejected because she was too controversial. A reminder that Sony chose Dr. Oz and many others.
