Elon Musk’s Twitter Takeover: Is Kanye West Safe?
Twitter and Instagram banned Kanye West from posting. However, he’s back to posting on the latter. The rapper took to Instagram on Thursday, October 27 after he was dropped by Adidas, Balenciaga, Vogue, Creative Artists Agency, and others.
Also on Thursday, Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion. He showed up at Twitter headquarters with a kitchen sink and a joke that fell flat. Now that he’s purchased the platform, users fear Kanye could be allowed back on the platform. Rumors are swirling that Elon will allow banned accounts back.
Elon Musk took over Twitter
Twitter has remained quiet since Elon Musk’s takeover. At the time of this writing, there is no word on whether Kanye West will be allowed back on the social media platform. He’s been locked out of his account for his antisemitic tweets earlier month.
Critics suggest that Kanye West will be back on the site. Per Independent.co.uk, the rumors swirled on Friday, October 28. This comes just hours after Elon purchased the social media platform and took over by firing two of its top men. Some fear that this sudden move will allow suspended accounts back onto the site for the sake of free speech.
Earlier this week, Instagram reversed the ban on Kanye West’s account. He lost access to the app for his rants. Kanye made his return to Instagram and claimed that he’s all about love. Some think that Twitter will do the same with his account.
Now, when an account is suspended, the following message appears: “Account suspended. Twitter suspends accounts that violate the Twitter Rules.” At the time of this writing, Kanye West’s Twitter profile remains as it did earlier this month. The latest tweet was posted on October 9.
Kanye West returns to Instagram
In one of his latest posts on Instagram, Kanye West revealed that he lost $2 billion in one day. He addressed the fallout with Adidas and Gap, two of the larger companies that ended their contracts with him in recent weeks. Yet, he mocked the companies that parted ways with him by sharing a fake news headline.
The news story was originally posted from the parody account N — News Network. He claimed that he was spreading “love,” not hate. Kanye addressed Endeavor Chief Executive Ari Emmanuel, who encouraged other companies to end their relationships with Kanye and stand up against hatred. The “Donda” artist has burned bridges with the fashion industry due to his antisemitic and racist comments.
“Ari Emmanuel,” Kanye West captioned his Instagram post. “I lost 2 billion dollars in one day and I’m still alive. This is love speech. I still love you. God still loves you. The money is not who I am. The people is who I am.”
Kanye claims that he doesn’t care if he’s losing sponsorships. The hip-hop star also addressed his Donda Academy, a K-12 Christian school in Simi Valley, which closed down a few days ago. He claimed that it’s reopening to fight back at critics. What are your thoughts on Kanye West returning to Twitter? Sound off below in the comment section.
