Kanye West Burns Bridges With Fashion Industry
Kanye West continues to burn bridges with the fashion industry. The rapper made antisemitic comments in his media rounds. He doubled down on those comments, which caused him to lose a string of endorsements. However, there are still calls growing for Adidas to cut ties with the hip-hop star.
Major talent agency CAA is the latest to remove themselves from the controversial star. The completed documentary about the artist has been scrapped amid the industry-wide backlash, most of it taking place in the fashion industry. Even Balenciaga and Vogue also cut ties with the “Jesus is King” star in recent days.
Will Adidas cut ties with Kanye West?
So far, Kanye West is losing all of his fashion connections. Pressure is growing on the German sportswear brand Adidas to sever ties with Kanye West. He changed the fashion world when he debuted his Yeezy shoes. However, his antisemitic comments have caused outrage, concern, and an increase in hate over the past few days.
On Sunday, October 23, a hate group hung a banner on a highway over a Los Angeles overpass that read, “Honk if you know Kanye is right about the J*ws.” The people, who wore dark masks, gave the Nazi salute to the drivers below. The photo went viral on social media, sparking an outcry and backlash against Kanye West. Many have called for Adidas to end its long-running partnership with the superstar.
Per The Washington Post, Adidas is still moving forward with its plans to release its new line of Yeezy sneakers. Anti-Defamation League chief executive Jonathan Greenblatt said “Adidas dropped the ball and failed to make a clear and cogent statement about their values.”
Even Kanye West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian shared a statement in response to his antisemitic comments. The reality star didn’t mention his name. On her Instagram Story on Monday, Kim shared that hate speech is “never OK” or “excusable.” Several of her family members, including Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian, also shared their support for the Jewish community.

Ruined relationship with the fashion industry
As previously mentioned, the fashion house Balenciaga ended its relationship with Kanye West. Vogue also shared that it has “no intention” of working with him again. Kanye had a long and close relationship with the fashion industry — especially with Vogue and Balenciaga. However, that has been ruined because of his views, which are hurtful and hateful.
This comes after his 45-minute interview on the Drink Champs podcast. During that appearance, he double down on his “White Lives Matter” t-shirt line, which he debuted during Paris Fashion Week. Kanye West shared that he “can say antisemitic things and that Adidas can’t drop me.” He threatened the German brand since he doesn’t care.
