Is ‘The View’ Host Joy Behar Retiring Soon?
The View host Joy Behar recently celebrated her 80th birthday and updated fans on her retirement plans. For the past week, Joy had been absent from the show causing fans to worry that the only OG panelist might have opted for retirement. However, co-host Whoopi Goldberg updated fans that the TV host is enjoying her time away from her job relaxing on a vacation.
Joy Behar Confirms She Has No Plans For Retirement
Now, the comedienne has spoken about whether she would opt for retirement. The View star has been appearing on the show since it premiered in 1997. But, even at 80, she has no plans for retirement and doesn’t wish to slow down anytime soon.

In an interview with People, the TV personality revealed that she wishes to keep going with her stint as a host. She said, “I just signed a contract so I’ll be here for a while. I have no plans to retire.”
Talking about her hosting gig, she added, “It’s really, you know, something that is an important show in many ways. Sometimes I don’t believe that, as I’ve been here since the beginning, but we’re the most-watched show in the daytime. Most-watched!”
“I’m happy to be a part of it. So no, I’m not going anywhere. I’m having a good time,” she concluded.
Whoopi Goldberg Wishes Joy A Very Happy Birthday
Although Joy wasn’t a part of the show on her 80th birthday on Friday, her co-hosts celebrated it on her behalf. Moderator Whoopi started by saying, “We want to start by wishing Joy a very happy birthday.”

“We will have plenty of celebrating when she gets back here next week. But, you know we had to say it because you know she hates it when we do,” she concluded.
Joy Behar Reveals The Reason She Was Fired In 2013
Joy has been with The View for a long time. However, for a brief period, she wasn’t a part of the show. In 2013, she was fired from the show, however, she was asked to return after two years in 2015. The comedian claims that she still doesn’t know the reason she was fired from the show.
During the interview, she told, “We still don’t know why they dumped me. They still don’t know why I was sacked. That was very stupid of them. But they learned their lesson.”

However, in another interview, the 80-year-old said that the hiatus was actually good for her. She explained, “I was glad to be fired. I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.”
Currently, part-time host, Ana Navarro is filling in for Joy and will continue until she is back from her holiday.
