Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie had to deal with the mess that their anchor left behind. They also had to address the issues of inappropriate behavior and workplace culture.

“They had to navigate an incomprehensible situation, not only for themselves, but for the audience, and most importantly for the Today Show staff, who were left reeling. And they had to do it on live television,” the source told The Sun.

That incident led Hoda Kotb and Savannah to form a close bond. The source admits that they “were handed a mess when Matt Lauer was fired.” During that time, they leaned on each other for support. They knew they had to change the workplace situation.
