‘The View’ Tear-Filled Sara Haines Defends Actions Of Friend
Sara Haines defended the actions of her friend. The View host broke down in tears as she made a passionate speech on Friday’s show. The 45-year-old laid it all out on the table as they discussed the major news story that hit the “Hot Topics” portion of the talk show.
It had Sara fired up about it. On Friday’s broadcast of The View, Joy Behar took over the moderating role for the absent Whoopi Goldberg. The major news story of the day followed after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. Per Wall Street Journal, she died in Tehran amid a series of ongoing protests and civil unrest that took place in Iran.
Masha was arrested for allegedly violating the law that requires women to wear a hijab or headscarf. The story has sparked an international outcry. Journalist Christine Amanpour was scheduled to interview the Iranian president in New York City. She refused to wear a headscarf because she felt she didn’t need to. The interview wound up canceled, and Sara Haines felt impassioned about the topic.
Emotional Sara Haines defends friend
Joy wanted to know what Sara Haines was thinking about that story since she somewhat had first-hand experience. She admitted that Christine is a good friend of hers. She got emotional as she defended her friend’s actions.
“I absolutely think this is the only choice she could make. Because this was not — she did not wear her covering because of these protests,” Sara Haines explained. “She doe it because that’s what she does in any country that does not require her to wear that. That is respect to the laws of the land.”
Sarah lashed out at the Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi. The former Good Morning America host accused him of turning it into a “political stunt.” The cause behind the recent protests in Iran is because of the death surrounding Mahsa Amini. Police accused her of wearing a headscarf incorrectly, which led to her tragic death.
The View host makes an impassioned speech
Sara Haines called out the hypocrisy of the country. The View co-host finds it ironic that they “have a morality police in a country that allows 375-450 honor killings.” The talk show host got emotional when she talked about the protestors who are honoring the death of Mahsa.
Some of them chopped off their hair while others are refusing to wear their hijabs. Others ripped them up in the streets of Tehran. She concluded her impassioned speech with the following message:
“So, don’t preach to me about morality,” Sara Haines continued. “If that is the type of morality you have, I don’t want any part of it.”
The news story they discussed was about Christine Amanpour, who said that she “politely declined” to wear a headscarf while interviewing the Iranian president. An aide suggested that she should wear one. Christine grew up in Tehran and wears a headscarf while reporting in the native land to comply with the laws. However, in light of recent events, she feels no reason to cover her head in the U.S.
