‘GMA’ Sam Champion Fell In Love With Dancing

GMA host Sam Champion admitted that he fell in love with dancing. He had no idea it would happen so soon. Earlier this month, it was announced that the weatherman would join the Season 31 cast of Dancing with the Stars. During his interview on the morning show, he revealed that he never danced a day in his life.

Sam Champion admits he’s not a dancer

About 11 days ago, it was announced that the Good Morning America fan favorite would join DWTS Season 31. Sam Champion is partnered up with professional dancer Cheryl Burke. At the time, he admitted that he looked forward to trying something new. He never danced a day in his life — not even at a wedding.

Sam Champion came out swinging with a silver metallic umbrella. Co-host Lara Spencer was impressed that he was already using props. Sam hid underneath the umbrella until he revealed himself. The 61-year-old wore black pants and a black button-down shirt that had rhinestones on the shoulders.

Lara asked him if he was ready for Dancing with the Stars. Sam already had a spray tan and the right costume on. She reminded him about the “workouts” and the “work ethic.” Sam joked that he wasn’t ready for what was ahead of him.

“I’ve got my COVID 15 pounds on right now,” Sam Champion said. “You know, I’m not in shape. I’ve never danced a moment in my life.”

However, Lara had video footage of Sam’s dance moves. The producers showed clips of him hopping around the studio and dipping it low on the floor. Lara assured Sam that he’s got moves. Sam joked that all he could do was a partial Irish jig.

GMA anchor fell in love with dancing

On Monday, September 18, Sam Champion shared an update with his Instagram followers. In the eight-minute Instagram video, he admitted that he fell in love with dancing. Sam hopes that he will stay on the show long enough to get better at it.

If it doesn’t work out, he’s not giving up. Sam Champion admitted that he will take dance classes in NYC. During the chat, he encouraged his fans and followers to not be afraid to try something. Even if that includes dancing.

Sam has a greater appreciation for dance. He always loved some forms of it, even in classic films like Singin’ in the Rain. Does this mean that Sam will do his own version of the iconic scene? Fans will have to tune in to find out.
