‘DWTS’ Season 31: How To Catch The Season Premiere
Many fans can hardly believe that DWTS Season 31 premieres this week. On Monday night, fans can tune in and catch every single second of fun in the ballroom. There’s quite an exciting cast to look forward to this year.
But after 30 seasons on ABC, the show has shifted platforms. So where can fans watch it and at what time? Keep reading to find out how to keep up when DWTS Season 31 debuts tomorrow.
DWTS Season 31 is on a brand new platform
Although Dancing With The Stars was a fall staple of ABC for many years, things are going to be a little bit different this year. After falling ratings for Season 29 and 30, ABC opted to move the competition to Disney+ instead.
If fans want to keep up with the pro dancers and their celebrity partners, they’ll need a Disney+ subscription.
Many fans have criticized the move to a paid streaming platform. They believe the move will prevent many fans from watching the series. A lot of people aren’t willing to pay for another streaming service and many older people don’t understand how to sign up. The complaints actually got so serious that judge Carrie Ann Inaba addressed them on her Facebook page.
“I’m heartbroken to hear so many people saying they won’t be joining us on dwts this season,” Carrie Ann wrote. “We’ve always been a family for so long…All of us, the dancers, the hosts, the judges, the production team, the creatives and hair and make up and stylists and lighting and set design…. And YOU. I hope you will be able to stay connected to us. I will be posting lots of content from my socials so I hope that will help you stay connected. Family is forever.”
In the past, DWTS always uploaded the performances to their YouTube channel after the new episode aired. But it’s not yet certain if they will still do that now that the show airs on Disney+.
When will the season premiere take place?
Disney+ will live stream DWTS Season 31 starting at 8 PM eastern time on Monday nights, starting September 19. ABC’s official website has confirmed the news.
Those that live on the west coast will have access to the live stream at 5 PM pacific time the same night. This means that everyone in the United States will watch at once. Dancing With The Stars fans living on the west coast won’t have to avoid online spoilers all evening.
However, this may also prove to be an unpopular choice. Many fans in the pacific time zone will just be getting off work and won’t be home in time to see the start of the broadcast.
