Is Avril Lavigne dead? Conspiracy theory resurfaces
Many fans suspect that Avril Lavigne took her own life shortly after the successful release of her album titled, Let Go. Some have pinpointed that the singer most likely died in September 2003. Turns out, the singer had a friend she was very close to. She and the young man abruptly stopped being friends. He later wrote about September of 2003 being a difficult time and how things could never go back to the way they were. According to this theory, it is believed that a woman named Melissa Vandella took over Avril’s life after she passed away. Many believe the studio was not ready to let go of the fame and riches they stood to make because of how popular Avril’s music was. So, her death was inconvenient for the studio. For this reason, fans believe they hid her death and Melissa Vandella took over. To this date, many fans believe Avril is dead and there is a doppelganger living her life now.

Why don’t believe think she’s still herself?
Turns out, there are a lot of little details that have the world convinced Avril is no longer herself. For starters, there were noticeable differences in her appearance before and after September of 2003. These differences included the curves of her eyes, her height, her hair color, and even the placement of beauty marks on her arms. During a photo shoot, the singer wrote “Melissa” on her head. Likewise, fans believe there were subliminal messages in Under My Skin that supported this conspiracy theory too.

Avril Lavigne herself is aware of the conspiracy theory. She’s denied that she was dead and replaced by a body double on multiple occasions. It, however, goes without saying that she is unlikely to admit the theory was true even if it was true. So, her denying it doesn’t hold much water for those who believe it to be true.
