Isabel Roloff Says She Almost Died Giving Birth
Isabel Roloff, the wife of Little People, Big World star Jacob, is finally spilling some of the details of her son’s birth. She revealed to fans that she almost died while giving birth to her first baby. Keep reading to learn more about her experience and why she decided now is the time to share.
Jacob and his wife welcomed their first child, Mateo, to the world in November 2021. Because they want to give their son a private life out of the spotlight, they have decided to keep many details private.
But now, it looks like Isabel Roloff saw an opportunity to open up and share her personal experience with fans.
Isabel is using her platform to talk about the current abortion concerns in the United States. She decided to share all of the ways that pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood have changed her life.
Though she and Jacob felt prepared to become parents, they have still faced challenges along the way. She explains that she had many questions to ask herself:
“Was I ready? Was I going to be a good mother? Could we afford it? Did we make the right decision? Are we going to be okay? Will we have enough help?”

Isabel Roloff opens up about almost dying during childbirth.
In her post, she also discloses some of the details of her son’s birth, which she hasn’t shared much about yet. She writes:
“I haven’t shared the whole story yet but in short I did almost die. That’s not me embellishing to try to make this story more impactful— that’s just what I was told by the nurses. The birth was traumatic for me in such a way that I still don’t know if I want another baby just yet. Especially in a country with the highest maternal mortality rate.”
Isabel doesn’t go into the specifics of her son’s traumatic birth. However, fans now understand that this was a difficult and scary experience for the new mom.
Fortunately, it looks like both Isabel and Mateo are doing well now.
Jacob Roloff’s wife wrapped up her post, writing, “Throughout my experience, I had a choice. And I believe everybody deserves to have one. If anything, going through all of this only deepened my perspective and made me more pro-choice than I already was. This is not something to take lightly, and we will not go down quietly.”
