‘DWTS’ Trevor Donovan Once Considered For Barbie’s Ken Role
Dancing With The Stars Season 31 competitor Trevor Donovan has played many roles in the past including President Reagan’s horse-riding secret service agent, to a high school student in Beverly Hills.
However, the well-built athletic actor with perfect blonde hair has always seemed destined for the role of Barbie’s Ken. Turns out, he nearly played that role.

How DWTS Competitor Nearly Played Barbie’s Ken
Back in 2011, Trevor Donovan was approached to play Ken, in a Barbie live-action movie. According to Today, he met up with Dreamgirls producer Laurence Mark. The famed producer was developing a live-action movie based on Barbie. Therefore, it would include her perfect boyfriend, Ken. Trevor was in the running, but nothing ever came of this project.
One thing is for certain, although Kenneth Sean Carson, aka Ken, is a recognizable name, not that many actors have portrayed him.
The two most notable Ken film or photographic appearances are Michael Keaton, voicing Barbie’s beau in Toy Story 3, and Pete Davidson, who along with Julia Fox, posed for Paper Magazine as Ken and Barbie back in 2019.
However, the big name who is playing Ken now is Ryan Gosling, in the upcoming 2023 major motion picture, Barbie.
What Does Trevor Donovan Say About Ryan Gosling In Barbie Movie?
During the recent summer months, the first photos from the 2023 movie, Barbie, were released. Moreover, everyone was talking about Ryan Gosling in that role. However, Trevor Donovan fans feel that he is the true Ken. What does the 90210 alum have to say about that?
Heavy reached out to him about this very thing. Turns out, he is called Ken all of the time. Moreover, he thinks that Ryan Gosling will be great in this role.
However, it seems that the Jinglebell Princess star already has an idea for a sequel. He wants to play Ken’s brother! However, it sounds like this role would be an antagonist.
“If I had a nickel for every time someone called me KEN… I’m flattered. Ryan will crush it! Who knows, if this Barbie movie is successful maybe they’ll have a sequel, one where KEN has a brother who comes for a visit. Although his brother seems nice and innocent, there is something sinister about him.”
While Trevor was his usual gracious self, a lot of fans feel that he would make the perfect Ken. The sport-loving actor seemed destined to play the Mattel doll that has had as many careers as Trevor has had in his nearly 50 acting roles.

One way that Trevor Donovan could fulfill his Ken doll destiny is to portray the iconic doll in a Dancing With The Stars Season 31 dance.
