Artem Chigvintsev On Returning To ‘DWTS’ After His Wedding
Dancing With The Stars Season 29 champion Artem Chigvintsev returns to the ballroom this year as a newly married man. The 40-year-old dancer married his fiancee Nikki Bella in a Parisian ceremony in August, which was filmed and will air on television at a later date.
Now, Artem is making his way back to the dance floor for DWTS Season 31. This year, he’s teaming up with social media personality Heidi D’Amelio in hopes of bringing home the Mirrorball Trophy. But how has his perspective as a pro dancer changed since his wedding day?
Artem Chigvintsev & Nikki Bella finally tie the knot
Artem Chigvintsev first set eyes on Nikki Bella when she signed up to compete on Dancing With The Stars Season 25. She was engaged to her costar John Cena at the time, but they ended their relationship shortly before the wedding. From then, Nikki went on to date Artem starting in 2019. They got engaged in early 2020 and Nikki gave birth to their son Matteo that July.
The couple has been happily together for a few years now, but they just now managed to tie the know.
“Well, you know what the thing is? It’s kind of like, because we’ve been together for quite some time, and I feel like, hey, getting married’s not going to change much just because our days is still the same,” the 40-year-old told the press at a DWTS press conference this week. “But it actually does.”
Nikki previously discussed wedding plans in interviews and on her podcast, but work and the pandemic kept getting in the way of things. Thankfully, she and Artem finally found a way to make plans work.
“It’s funny when you get this ring on, it just gives you more of, like, filled with responsibilities. When you make this decision, you definitely think through a lot more than I used to,” Artem went on to say in the press conference. “But yeah, it feels good. It feels good to be married.”

Heidi hopes her new dance partner can help her take home first place
Fans have no doubt that Artem is enjoying his time as a newlywed. But now, he has to focus on the ballroom. Can he help Heidi D’Amelio take home the championship? Artem and Heidi are going toe-to-toe with returning pro Mark Ballas and Heidi’s daughter, Charli D’Amelio.
“I will say we joke around [being] competitive. But yeah, we are. It’s a problem. But it’s fun. It’s all in good fun,” Heidi said during the press conference. “We love each other. But she wants to win. I want to win. But at the end of the day, there can only be one winner. And I think I would love to see her win.”
