Critics came for BooHoo for its low wages and fast-fashion practices. The brand launches new items on a daily basis — which contributes to the fashion industry’s ever-growing sustainability problem.
“When BooHoo first approached me with this idea, which was all about sustainability and style, I was concerned about the effects of the fast fashion industry on our planet,” Kourtney Kardashian shared in her statement, per Daily Mail. “It was an enlightening experience to speak directly with industry experts.”
She admitted that there’s “a lot of work to be done and improvements to be made.” However, the 43-year-old feels strongly about their collaboration. Kourtney has a feeling that she will do a lot of good with BooHoo. She feels that “any progress” is a “step in the right direction.” She will also “open up the conversation for future improvements.”
Critics accused BooHoo of “greenwashing,” which is when a company claims to make ethical efforts but has no proof of its new sustainable practices. The brand previously released a sustainable clothing collection, but with little effort. Fans argue that BooHoo is relying on celebrities to make it appear like it’s ethically conscious.
