Tiffany Haddish Will Speak Her Truth On Molestation Claims
Comedian Tiffany Haddish shared that she will speak her truth on the molestation claims. She broke her silence on Instagram. On Tuesday, September 30, a 22-year-old woman sued the actress and Arie Spears, according to the documents filed at California’s Super Court for Los Angeles County.
She accused the former couple of molestation claims. The plaintiff alleged that Tiffany was a “longtime family friend” of her mom. In 2013, the woman identified as Jane Doe claimed that Tiffany and Aries would “groom” her and made her perform “sexually suggestive acts” in a video.
Now, the Girls’ Trip star is speaking out about the allegations.
Tiffany Haddish breaks her silence on Instagram
On Monday, September 5, Tiffany Haddish released a statement on Instagram. She said that she will speak more about it in the future. For now, Haddish is remaining silent amid the legal case. She eventually plans to answer questions and address what happened.
“I know people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you,” Tiffany Haddish wrote. “Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now. But, clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all — and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it. I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can.”
Comments have been turned off on her Instagram post. According to the court filing, another plaintiff identified as John Doe was allegedly molested by Aries Spears, also in 2014. Haddish allegedly told him that he would be filming a reel for Nickelodeon at the comedian’s home.
She brought both Jane Doe and John Doe to a room in Spears’ home. He then allegedly “molested” the 7-year-old boy during filming. The plaintiffs also claim that Haddish was present during the incident. She allegedly “aided, abetted, and watched Spears sexually molest a child.”
Aries Spears also involved in the legal case
Both Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears are being sued for emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of a minor, per People’s report. Haddish was also sued for breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud, failure to warn, and negligence supervision.
The incident took place during filming Funny or Die’s segment. The production company released a statement amid the news of Spears and Tiffany Haddish’s molestation claims.
“Funny Or Die found this video absolutely disgusting and would never produce such content. We were not involved with the conceptualization, development, funding, or production of this video. It was uploaded to the site as user-generated content and was removed in 2018 immediately after becoming aware of its existence.”
Haddish’s lawyer feels positive that the actress will survive this. In a statement, her attorney promised that “Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down.” They also slammed the plaintiffs’ “frivolous action.” Spears’ lawyer also said that he “isn’t going to fall for any shakedown.”
Tiffany Haddish is the host of the ABC game show Kids Say the Darndest Things. She also released a children’s book, Layla, the Last Black Unicorn. What are your thoughts on her statement? Sound off below in the comment section.
