‘GMA’ Meteorologist Sam Champion Returns With Big News

News, Talk Shows

GMA meteorologist Sam Champion returned to the morning show with big news. He gave the fans exactly what they needed to hear. Read on to learn more and to see where he went during his break.

Where did the GMA meteorologist go?

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Sam Champion has been away from the show. The sassy meteorologist quickly became a hit with the GMA viewers. They love his candid sense of humor with his co-anchors. Sam has taken some much-needed quality time with his husband Rubem Robierb.

He also celebrated his 61st birthday. Earlier this month, Sam’s colleagues poked fun at him while he was away. Fellow meteorologist Dani Beckstrom filled in for Sam during his absence. In the August, 16 broadcast of Good Morning America, Dani didn’t have much good news for viewers.

She talked about the hot weather and drought that’s occurring in the Northeast, while other parts of the country are dealing with heavy rains and flooding. Dani also cracked jokes at Sam Champion’s expense, even though he wasn’t in the studio. She shared a clip of herself on Twitter filling in for him.

“Listen, no one is more disappointed that I’m not @SamChampion than me,” she joked. “But @mcharlesworth7, @KenRosatoABC7, and @heatheorourke7 are a close second.”

Some of Sam Champion’s co-hosts took to Dani’s tweet to compare her to the original.

Heather wrote, “You’re doing a great job, @danibeckstrom! And you’re def not as bossy as Mr. Bossy Pants. ‘Play music’… ‘What are you doing?’ ‘Let’s take our walk to Starbucks.’ Sheesh! (Oops, sorry @SamChampion.”

Sam was in shock to find his colleagues shading him. Fellow meteorologist Keith Carson added, “Odd, I don’t remember him making his own Starbucks runs at all. (Bazinga I’ll be here all week).”

Sam responded, “I leave you a couple of days…”

Sam Champion’s return has fans celebrating

He returned to the morning show on Monday, August 22. Sam Champion had fans cheering for several reasons. Many were happy to see him back. Meanwhile, others were ecstatic over the big news he shared.

The GMA co-anchor shared what they’ve been wanting to hear. During his first-ever broadcast since his beach vacation, Sam Champion shared the big news — that “much-needed” rain was on the way. Sam took to social media to share a photo of himself with his aluminum mug and the forecast map behind him.

“Good Morning! Rain today… some heavy in scattered storms! Sorry… but, we NEED this!!” Sam Champion wrote.

He also added that he needed the coffee to give him some “Monday motivation.” The former Weather Channel anchor had trouble getting back into the grind. Fans took to the post to share that they were happy to see both Sam back and to get some rain. It made for a good Monday for them.
