Gio Benitez Embarrassed, Asks Robin Roberts ‘Is Nothing Sacred?’

Gio Benitez didn’t appreciate it when Robin Roberts shared the details of a personal conversation she had with his husband. He wondered if anything is “sacred” anymore. He’s been filling in for Michael Strahan, who took a break from the morning show for the past few months.

As fans know, Michael hosts the game show The $100,000 Pyramid, which is part of ABC’s “Summer Fun & Games.” The television host previously shared the secrets behind his success. Gio has been co-anchoring Good Morning America alongside Robin and Amy Robach this week.

Did Robin Roberts flap her lips?

During a recent broadcast of GMA, Robin Roberts introduced viewers to a Black-owned smoothie business. She then brought up a conversation with Gio Benitez’s husband Tommy DiDario. She shared with him about the time she helped Gio make a drink.

“One time you tried to make a smoothie in your kitchen, he had to hire painters to come in and repair what you did,” Robin told him.

“Is nothing sacred between us?” Gio Benitez said with a look of embarrassment on his face.

He didn’t seem pleased that his co-host shared this personal anecdote with the viewers. After several seconds, Gio confirmed that the story was true. Robin wasn’t going to back down without a fight. She continued to ask him about it.

“It was a mess,” Gio Benitez admitted. “I wouldn’t try it again.”

Some of the GMA viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on that revelation. Most of them sided with Gio. They agreed that smoothies are complicated to make. One user joked that his husband Tommy was “spilling the tea.”

Tommy was a fixture on Extra and The Rachel Ray Show. He married Gio in 2016. The two met on Instagram and had their first date over margaritas and tacos. As for Gio’s relationship with Robin, it’s all in good fun. Fans loved their banter and called them “great” together.

Gio Benitez shaded by GMA co-host?

Earlier this week, Gio Benitez was snubbed by his GMA co-hosts. They noticed that his name popped up in Sunday’s New York Times crossword puzzle. Since he was famous enough to get a mention in the prestigious newspaper, they pretended not to know him. They joked that Gio was suddenly too good for them.

Robin said she was changing his name to “102 Down.” Gio Benitez shared details of a text conversation he had with meteorologist Sam Champion, who is also away from the show. Sam texted him back saying, “I thought the answer was Bob.” Gio joked that he “pretends he doesn’t know me.”
