Does Manga Artist Toyotarou Like New ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Movie?
The latest manga anime movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero releases worldwide in August 2022. With a 7 out of 10 rating on IMDb and 7.3 out of 10 on MyAnimeList, the movie has been a massive success. So much so that even the manga’s original artist appreciated the movie and conveyed his love.
Japanese manga artist Toyotarou is best known for illustrating Dragon Ball Super, and he seems very happy with the new movie franchise. In his latest interview, the manga artist talked about Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Toyotarou Promotes Dragon Ball Super Volume 19
The 44-year-old appeared during a Weekly Dragon Ball News episode which is a video series featured on the official website for Dragon Ball. In the episode, series host Victory Uchida indulges in a conversation with the manga artist Toyotarou.

As per CBR.com, he was there to promote the latest Dragon Ball Super Volume 19. During the interview, the artist answers different questions by the readers about the recent series arc that included questions about Super Hero and Granolah the Survivor.
A reader asked Toyotarou what his favorite scene from the franchise movie was. To this, the artist mentioned, “Honestly, everything. From the start to the end, I loved every scene.”
“Everything about it from Toei Animation’s work, to its charm and also the sound. Everything is so high-quality; it really struck a chord. It’s just so fun and really inspired me,” he continued.
Toyotarou Admits Binging On Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
The artist also mentioned that he had actually seen the movie four times, given how good it is. He also discussed his relationship with Akira Toriyama, who is the series creator, and mentioned how the artist has inspired and continues to do so till that.

Talking about these interactions with the creator, he said, “I’ve had a lot of interactions with Toriyama, so I find myself searching for and taking in his ideas, his storytelling, and so on each time I watch it.”
“I keep watching it, hoping to learn even a little more about how he thinks and tells a story. I find that aspect fascinating…so I guess my favorite part of the movie is how much I’ve learned from it,” he explained.
Toyotarou Praises Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama
Further in the interview, the manga artist praised Toriyama’s ability to come up with good jokes. He also stated that the jokes in his latest Super Hero movie work well & are timed in a hilarious way. Toyotarou also admired the animation staff at Toei for their effort in bringing the writer’s vision to life.

He said, “The staff at Toei Animation deserve a lot of credit… the director really understood how Toriyama’s jokes worked, and Toei seemed like they wanted to make them as funny as possible. Perfect coordination… it was a master class in comedy, right down to the last details.”
By the end of the interview, the artist specifically mentioned the scene that moved him. He talked about how the movie’s last scene was an emotional peak for the artist.
