Cheryl Burke Dives Into Her Work Amid Her Ongoing Divorce
Earlier this year, Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke announced that she was seeking a divorce from her husband, Matthew Lawrence. The couple seemed to have several happy years together, but it was time to move on. Divorce while living in the public eye can be incredibly difficult, but sources close to Cheryl say that she’s doing very well, all things considered.
Keep reading to see what the dancer is up to just ahead of the DWTS Season 31 premiere.
Cheryl Burke is keeping her mind busy these days
Cheryl Burke is probably still struggling with the effects of her divorce, but she’s definitely trying her best to keep moving forward anyway. She’s never been one to wallow over a heartbreak. Her friends confirm that she’s putting herself out there and trying to move on.
“She is continuing on and moving forward very positively,” a source close to the dancer told E! “Cheryl is a power woman making things happen for herself and seems to be on a positive path despite the hardships she’s faced recently.”
The insider went on to say that the 38-year-old is really just focusing on herself these days. She has plenty of projects to occupy her time and her mind.
“She’s always been a hustler and a super hard worker,” the insider continued, teasing that new business opportunities are on the horizon for Cheryl.
It also appears that Cheryl Burke has a lot of people in her corner. Her DWTS Season 29 partner and friend AJ McLean previously said he wished her all the best during this difficult chapter of her life.
“She’s gonna be my ride or die homie forever … She always knows that she can pick up the phone and call me anytime — any day, doesn’t matter when,” the singer told Us Weekly. “And she just knows that, obviously, the only way around [divorce] is through, and this is something that she has to go through right now, unfortunately.”
The dancer opens up about her mental health issues
It also appears that Cheryl Burke might be taking some time to focus on her mental health. In a previous interview, she opened up about how being a professional dancer has actually given her significant body dysmorphia. Once she started pursuing sobriety, the body dysmorphia issues seemed to get worse.
“So when I look at myself in the mirror and someone says, ‘Oh, you look amazing,’ I see someone who is overweight and, in my eyes and in my way of judging myself, not amazing,” Cheryl said on an episode of the HypochondriActor podcast. “It’s like no matter what I look like.”
No matter what the future holds for the dancer, her fans wish her all the best.
