Former Bringing Up Bates Stars Turn To Social Media, YouTube

After UPtv pulled the plug on the Bates family’s show, several of Gil and Kelly’s kids ramped up their social media and YouTube content. Now, fans have a chance to keep up with Gil and Kelly’s grown children and grandchildren, too.

Alyssa, Carlin, Katie, Erin, Lawson, and other members of the family have YouTube channels that they use regularly. Often, their children appear in these videos, too.

While some fans do enjoy keeping up with the family online, others worry about the kids’ lack of privacy.

Fans Accuse The Family Of Exposing Their Children

On Reddit, Bringing Up Bates fans are calling out the family for exposing their kids and not giving them any privacy. One fan ponders, “Now that people on social media are more aware of child exploitation and its dangers, so we think any Bates will stop posting their children on the internet?”

Some Bringing Up Bates fans are convinced that they will never stop posting pictures and videos of the kids. They think that the children are a big part of their “brand” and that people enjoy following them for this reason. They also point out that the kids simply can’t consent to being on social media like this.

One fan believes that the kids might be posting fewer photos of their own children these days. However, they don’t expect this to ever stop completely. The fan said, “Since money is everything to them, they won’t remove them all together.”

We’ll have to wait and see whether the Bates kids eventually stop posting so much content about their children. But they were raised on TV, so this may be all they know. One fan argues that social media and YouTube are worse than a TV show because “now with social media, it’s way more close up and more often.”
