Spinoff Anime ‘Kakegurui Twin’ To Premiere On Netflix
After enjoying massive success both as a manga and anime, Kakegurui –Compulsive Gambler is back with a spinoff series for its fans. Similar to the context of the main anime series, Kakegurui Twin explains how the lead, Mary Saotome, turned out to be an obsessively compulsive gambling sadist.
The premise of the spinoff series takes place before the main story. So, in essence, it is a prequel that lays the line for the events in the main series. It also shows how several characters in the main story took control of their gambling school.

As per CBR.com, the spinoff’s anime adaptation is already in the cards, with the premiere set for early August. However, fans do not have a clue as to what the new series encompasses.
What Is The Prequel Kakegurui Twin All About?
At first, Kakegurui Twin might seem like a redundant and unnecessary spinoff. This is due to the fact that it features familiar characters in settings similar to that of Kakegurui-Compulsive Gambler. Regardless, its gambling obsession premise tells a tale that is just as captivating and entertaining for the fans as the sequel. Moreover, it dives further into the minds of the anime’s colorful and demented ‘villain.’

Kakegurui Twin is based on the manga of the same name and is a creation of Homura Kawamoto in association with artist Kei Saiki. The spinoff/prequel is set about a year before the events in the main series transpire. While Yumeko Jabami is a protagonist in the sequel, she hasn’t yet appeared on the Hyakkaou Private Academy campus in the prequel.
Rather, her occasionally obsessive rival, Mary Saotome, is the prime character in Kakegurui-Compulsive Gambler. She has just joined the school and is unaware of the academy’s competitive structure based on gambling. As she quickly acclimatizes to the new environment, she becomes a dangerously compulsive gambler.
Creators Have High Hopes For The Anime Adaptation
The premise is fairly similar to that of the main anime and manga. However, the premise worked well for Kakegurui Twin manga, and the makers hope for the same from its anime adaptation.

Kakegurui Twin’s first trailer gave fans a quick idea of the character’s prime storyline throughout the series. This includes events like Tsuzura’s infatuation with and admiration for Mary. The manga currently has 12 volumes, so the anime will have ample material to develop a grasping storyline for the first season. However, there has been no confirmation on the number of episodes the spinoff will carry in Season 1.
When Will Kakegurui Twin Premiere On Netflix?
Kakegurui-Compulsive Gambler currently has two seasons available for fans to stream on Netflix. However, the spinoff Kakegurui Twin will premiere on Netflix on August 4, 2022. So, the time is now to catch up on the main series before you stream the prequel after it hits Netflix next month.
