Naked and Afraid XL: Frozen puts 12 of the franchise’s elite survivalists in the most punishing location ever attempted – Montana’s frigid Rocky Mountains. However, this challenge demands a new level of skill, preparation, and mental toughness to endure 14 brutal days and nights in the ice-covered wilderness of the Great White North.
Naked and Afraid XL shows Wes Harper getting ready for a frigid night
We have an exclusive first-look clip at the season premiere of Naked and Afraid XL: Frozen. This clip sees contestant Wes Harper getting ready for the first frigid night in the Rocky Mountains ahead of Sunday’s premiere.
The video clip stars with 55 minutes remaining until sunset. Wes is gathering branches and sticks for his shelter. “It takes about a million branches to fill this sucker in,” he says as he gathers them. “You put on layer on and the wind cuts right through. You’ve just got to do multi-stacks. It takes forever.” As he says this, the screen reveals it is currently 33 degrees, with a wind chill of 24.
Next, the footage shows his fort. “There’s a change in the air,” he says. “The temperatures dropping. The sun is starting to go down and you can feel it. It’s changing five degrees every five minutes; It’s starting to become freezing now. It’s getting chillier and chillier as we’re working.”
After this, he admits it is hard on the first day. “The first day you start your shelter and you get going as much as you have time for. That’s about the stage where we are at right now. Our shelter is okay, but it’s not good by any means. It’s gonna take another day or two to really get it tightened up. So, it’s gonna be a cold night. We know night one sucks.”

I just don’t see Trish pulling her weight. All the other teams are out there along with their teammates, trying to get things done such as their shelters, collecting more firewood than the two pieces she carried into camp. She should have gone with Dan since he has a bad back in case he needed help. She’s only there to help by bringing in a little firewood and “comfort” those that are down. She did tell the guys that they had to hurry because they are loosing daylight. They didn’t show her helping Jake take some of the pelts to make foot covering for him after he said he was worried about his feet.
