For those who don’t know or are curious, Vinland Saga is a Japanese anime that’s based on the manga named Vinrando Saga by author Makoto Yukimura. The manga first appeared in April 2005 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Then its serialization moved over to Monthly Afternoon.

WIT Studio produces Season 1 of Vinland Saga. Shortly thereafter, Studio MAPPA was responsible for Season 2 production. They’re behind some of the most popular anime series, including Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Vinland Saga is a historical drama that takes place during the Viking Age in Europe. It follows the rise of King Cnut the Great’s ascendence to the throne and his rule over the Northern Sea Empire. It also tells the story of Thorfinn, an Icelandic explorer who is part of a group of mercenaries who murdered his father.

Ever since he sought revenge against them and failed, he must serve them for life. Thorfinn wants to sail the ocean and land up at Vinland. However, he has to follow through with his responsibilities. The first season of the series was popular because it was unlike any other anime series on Netflix.

When Vinland Saga Season 2 could appear on Netflix

Season 2 of Vinland Saga may not appear on Netflix until January 2026. The reason for this is that Season 1 didn’t premiere until July 2022, which is three years after the first episode aired in Japan. The new season won’t be broadcast in Japan until January 2023. That means it could take three years unless the English dub comes sooner.

As previously mentioned, the English dub could dramatically reduce the wait time. Per the Wiki, Netflix has rights to the English dub of the anime. Season 2 of Vinland Saga could be available on Netflix as soon as late 2023. Neither Netflix nor Studio Mappa has confirmed this news.
